Between Natives and Foreigners
Karl/Charles Follen has not only been described as a dangerous revolutionary, but he has also been praised as the emblematic representative of German philosophical idealism and theological liberalism. This edition introduces, for the first time, a broad selection of Follen's controversial writings, emphasizing the multilingual dimension of his oeuvre in Germany, Switzerland, and the United States. The Book Triumphant
Books printed in the fifteenth century have been the subject of much in-depth research. In contrast, the beginning of the sixteenth century has not attracted the same scholarly interest. This volume brings together studies that charter the development of printing and bookselling throughout Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It presents new research and analysis on the impact of the Reformation, on how texts were transmitted and on the complex relationships that affected the production and sale of books. Bibliotheken: Innovation aus Tradition
Diese Festschrift, publiziert aus Anlass des 65. Geburtstages von Dr. Rolf Griebel, ehrt diesen für seine Leistungen als Generaldirektor der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek, eine der weltweit bedeutendsten Universal- und Forschungsbibliotheken. Das Autorenverzeichnis umfasst bedeutende Beiträger aus dem deutschen und internationalen Informations- und Bibliothekswesen, aus Kultur, Wissenschaft und Politik.
