Christmas Connections

Christmas Connections is the tender story of two anxious sisters: one in heaven longing for a name and family, and Suzannah on earth trying to keep her family together. Suzannah's goal is to bring about the perfect Christmas for her despondent parents; and fulfill a promise to an angel. Her efforts are rewarded with miracles -- one good deed at a time -- rippling through the lives of others living in Hometown, bringing heaven and earth together in a holiday story of renewal, hope, love, and spiritual connections. Christmas Connections is a story to be read by young and old again and again for Christmases forever!

The author argues that there is no evidence of how much cervical cancer HPV vaccine will prevent. What is emerging, however, is evidence of its harmful effects. In the nine years since the experimental HPV vaccination program began, there have been 255 associated deaths worldwide and 43,000 adverse events. Gardasil was fast-tracked through the FDA, a process usually reserved for serious diseases where a new drug required to fill an unmet and urgent medial need. Yet the incidence of cervical cancer had already been markedly in decline due to Pap smear programs. This in-depth investigation of the approval of a vaccine exposes cracks in the pharmaceutical industry and highlights the problems that arise when government regulators and corporate interests are prioritised ahead of patient safety and independent science.

Stitching Rites

In the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado, there thrives a folk tradition with links to both the past and future. Colcha embroidery is a traditional Spanish colonial style of textile, bed covering, or wall hanging dating from the early nineteenth century. In the first book to consider this craft, Suzanne MacAulay provides a detailed account of this folk art tradition that is both old and constantly renewing itself, presenting a sensitive portrayal of artists and the contexts in which they live and work. Stitching Rites reveals how art, history, and memory interweave in a rich creative web. Based on archival research and on extensive interviews with artists, the book reveals the personal mo...

Tenderly suspended between fear and longing, Abreu’s characters grasp for connection: A man speckled with Carnival glitter crosses a crowded dance floor and seeks the warmth and beauty of another body.
