The papers contained within this volume focus on the transient aspects of the preocesses in tribology highlighting the differences obtained with stationery conditions, be they experimental analytical or numerical.
These papers represent the proceedings from the 29th Leeds-Lyon Symposium on Tribology, 'Tribological Research and Design for Engineering Systems' which was held in September 2002. Over 130 delegates from 18 countries attended the symposium, and the extensive discussions generated over 150 written questions and responses, which are documented at the end of this proceedings volume. There have been many advances in the field of tribology in recent years, with progress being made in the engineering and interaction of surfaces; micro and nano-tribology; elastohydrodynamics; surface films; surface texture; tribochemistry; wear and life prediction; with both experimental and theoretical contributions. These advances were reviewed, and the impact of this understanding on the fundamentals upon total engineering activity in design, manufacture and machine operation were considered.Readership:Scientists and researchers in the field of tribology.

Fibroblast Growth Factors, Second Edition systematically introduces readers to FGF in the fields of injury repair and regeneration, endocrinology and metabolism, structure and modification, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, FGF/FGFR inhibitor, engineering and new drug development. Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) are secreted protein ligands that act in a paracrine or endocrine fashion to carry out their pleiotropic functions in development, tissue homeostasis and metabolism. This book covers the work from Li's team from 2013 to 2018 and will be a primer for scientists, particularly young students entering the FGFs field with an eye on basic research and application. - Contains approximately 90% new material on topics covered - Includes information on "breakthrough discoveries which have been made since the publication of the first edition - Introduces detailed research methods and technologies of FGFs so the book can be used as a "toolbox by the user - Includes comprehensive and systematic research and industry application
This volume represents the latest issue of a collection of Proceedings each dealing with a different topic in Tribology. This volume contains the Proceedings from the 23rd Leeds-Lyon Symposium which addressed the topic of Elastohydrodynamics and was attended by many international experts in the field. The Keynote Address was presented by Professor Stathis Ioannides on the subject of "Tribology in Rolling Element Bearings" and was followed by fifteen other sessions covering a wide variety of general areas from "Experimental" to "Lubricant Properties". In addition, nine other invited technical papers were presented to support the sessions.
This book provides state-of-the-art reviews, current research and prospects of producing hydrogen using bio, thermal and electrochemical methods and covers hydrogen separation, storage and applications. Hydrogen produced from biomass offers a clean and renewable energy source and a promising energy carrier that will supplement or replace fossil fuels in the future. The book is intended as a reference work for researchers, academics and industrialists working in the chemical and biological sciences, engineering, renewable resources and sustainability. Readers will find a wealth of information in the text that is both useful for the practical development of hydrogen systems and essential for a...
