Among this collection is also a series of notes taken by Ira Moore Barton as chairman of a committee appointed by the General Court to inquire into the causes of complaints of the Mashpee Indians. This 136-page bound collection of minutes of the committee's meetings extends from 5 February to 8 March 1834. Benjamin Franklin Hallet (1797-1862) appears to have played a prominent role in the deliberations of the committee.
