"With over 500 participants from over 60 countries, the success of the symposium was reflected in the coming together of ideas in research and lessons in conservation from a diverse range of individuals and groups, both at the local and regional/global scale. Over 400 abstracts were received and a total of 376 were presented after a careful review process by the Programme Committee, overseen by Programme Chairs Matthew Godfrey and Brendan Godley and the Programme Coordinator DuBose Griffin. The symposium was held at the Kala Academy in Panaji, Goa's renowned centre for performing arts, situated on the banks of the Mandovi River.
