The FBI Laboratory
This investigation concerned allegations of wrongdoing and improper practices within certain sections of the FBI Lab. These involved some of the most significant prosecutions in the recent history of the Dept., including the World Trade Center and OK City bombings. They implicated fundamental aspects of law enforcement: the reliability of the procedures employed to analyze evidence, the integrity of the persons engaging in that analysis, and the trustworthiness of the testimony by FBI Lab. examiners. The invest. lasted more than 18 months and addressed a large number of allegations; most were not substantiated, but some important ones were.

Crisis and Criticism
Crisis and Criticism is a series of interventions from 2009 to 2021 engaging with the literary, cultural and political responses to the capitalist crisis of 2007–8. Challenging the tendency to treat crisis as natural and beyond human control, this book interrogates our cultural understanding of crisis and suggests the necessity of ruthless criticism of the existing world. While responses to crisis have retreated from the critical, choosing to inhabit apocalyptic fantasies instead, only a critical understanding of the causes of crisis within capitalism itself can promise their eventual overcoming.
Philosophy as a Literary Art
Despite philosophers’ growing interest in the relation between philosophy and literature in general, over the last few decades comparatively few studies have been published dealing more narrowly with the literary aspects of philosophical texts. The relationship between philosophy and literature is too often taken to be "literature as philosophy" and very rarely "philosophy as literature." It is the dissatisfaction with this one-sidedness that lies at the heart of the present volume. Philosophy has nothing to lose by engaging in a serious process of literary self-analysis. On the contrary, such an exercise would most likely make it stronger, more sophisticated, more playful and especially more self-reflexive. By not moving in this direction, philosophy places itself in the position of not following what has been deemed, since Socrates at least, the worthiest of all philosophical ideals: self-knowledge.
