Lucky Uncle George
Averof is the only armored cruise in existence. After the naval battle of Lemnos, her crew called her "lucky uncle George" while the Turks called her "devil ship". She is over 100 years old and still treated as a commissioned ship in the Greek Navy. Within the first two years of her commissioning, she experienced an attempted mutiny and was the fleet flag ship during the two naval battles of the First Balkan War. She is probably the reason that most of the islands in the Northern Aegean Sea are Greek today, instead of Turkish.

The Naval Battle Off Cape Sarych
In November of 1914 pre-dreadnought and dreadnought capital ships faced off for the first time. The battle to place at the northern end of the Black Sea near Cape Sarych, the southern-most point on the Crimean Peninsula. The book sets the stage for this battle between the fleets of the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire, explores the battle in detail, and describes what happened to the participants. All of the ships involved are described and the photographs of most are included as they appear in the narrative.
Lewis Carroll's Photographs of Children and Young Adults
Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll), one of the most accomplished and well known photographers of the 19th century, took approximately 3000 photographs in his life time of which approximately 1580 prints and 71 glass negatives exist. Over 200 of these photographs are included in this book, including 8 which have never before been published. Few books which feature his photographs focus exclusively on young people and, especially, his sometimes controversial and occasionally haunting photographs of girls in their mid-20s and younger - by far his favorite subject. The Imperial Russian battleship Tsesarevich was a unique vessel. She was the only one of 15 Russian battleships still flying the Russian flag after the Russo-Japanese war and the only Russian battleship to see combat in both The Russo-Japanese War and World War I. She was damaged in combat at least five times; three times by the Japanese, once by the Germans and once by the Russians!
