Anthropometry of Infants, Children, and Youths to Age 18 for Product Safety Design
A total of 87 traditional and functional body measurements were taken on a sample of 4127 infants, children, and youths representing the U.S. population aged 2 weeks through 18 years. Measurements were taken throughout the United States by two teams of anthropometrists using an automated anthropometric data acquisition system. Standard anthropometers, calipers, and tape devices were modified to read electronically and input dimensional data directly into a mini-computer for data processing and storage. Summary statistics of measurement results are reported for 16 age groups along with statistics of measurement results for the sexes combined and males and females separately. Each measurement is described along with a photograph and illustration. In addition bivariate relationships of selected functional measurements with weight or stature are provided along with regression data.

Vegetation History and Cultural Landscapes
This book focuses on the vegetation history of the cultural landscape in southwestern Slovakia, which was established and adopted by mankind and has since constantly evolved in response to ongoing changes (in environmental conditions, biodiversity, land use, etc.). The book analyses four dominant ecosystems typical for the cultural landscape and affected by humans: woodlands, wetlands, grasslands and agricultural land. Each ecosystem is discussed in separate chapters. The chapters include (a) basic information, general aspects, development processes, trends and interpretations, (b) a published or non-published case study based on the author’s own research, and (c) an extensive bibliography. A set of maps on the vegetation history and indices of geographical names and plants names serve to round out the coverage. The work provides an essential point of departure for describing the typical regional characteristics of the cultural landscape, with an eye to its future preservatio n.
Landscape-ecological Planning LANDEP
This book provides a comprehensive description of the landscape-ecological planning system LANDEP, and introduces the methodical procedure. LANDEP was developed at the Institute of Landscape Ecology of Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava and has been applied in various planning processes at home and abroad. Despite the fact that the LANDEP methodology was defined in 1979, the methodological content, sequence of procedures and the application of concept in practice are still valid. The first two steps – analyses and syntheses – have the nature of fundamental research and result in the design and characteristics of complex landscape-ecological-spatial units. The final two steps – evaluations and proposals – address the needs of planning practice. The intermediate step – interpretations – has the character of applied research and forms the arguments and criteria for the assessment of landscape for its utilisation by humans.
Jaroslav Rössler
Jaroslav Rössler (1902-1990) was one of the Czech avant-garde photographers of the first half of the 20th century whose work has only recently become known outside Eastern Europe. This text documents each stage of Rössler's career with a generous selection of duotone images, some of which have never been published before.
