Characterizing Old Greek Deuteronomy as an Ancient Translation
Much can be learned about a translation’s linguistic and cultural context by studying it as a text, a literary artifact of the culture that produced it. However, its nature as a translation warrants a careful approach, one that pays attention to the process by which its various features came about. In Characterizing Old Greek Deuteronomy as an Ancient Translation, Jean Maurais develops a framework derived from Descriptive Translation Studies to bring both these aspects in conversation. He then outlines how the Deuteronomy translator went about his task and provides a characterization of the work as a literary product.

Death of the Covenant Code: Capital Punishment in Old Greek Exodus in Light of Greco-Egyptian Law
Many laws in the Old Greek translation of the Covenant Code do not say the same thing as the Hebrew text. In the past, various idiosyncrasies in the Greek translation of laws that involve the death penalty had been glossed over and considered stylistic variations or grammatical outliers. However, when the text-linguistic features of the Greek translation are compared to contemporary literary, documentary, and legal Greek sources, new readings emerge: cursing a parent is no longer punishable by death; a law about bestiality becomes a law about animal husbandry; the authority of certain legal commands is deregulated. This work explores these and other new readings in comparison with contemporary Greco-Egyptian law.

The Theology of the Books of Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah
The books of Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah address problems in and around ancient Judah in ways that are as incisive and critical as they are optimistic and constructive. Daniel C. Timmer's The Theology of the Books of Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah situates these books in their social and political contexts, examining the unique theology of each as it engages thorny problems in Judah and beyond. In dialogue with recent scholarship, this study focuses on these books' analysis and evaluation of the world as it is, focusing on both human beings and their actions, and God's commitment to purify, restore, and perfect the world. Timmer also surveys these books' later theological use and cultural reception. His study brings their theology into dialogue with concerns as varied as ecology, nationalism, and widespread injustice. Descendants of Digory Sargeant of St. Germans, Cornwall, England and Worcester, Massachusetts
Digory Sargeant was born in Cornwall, England in 1655. His parents were John Sargeant and Martha Axford. He was living in Massachusetts by 1675. He married Constance James in about 1693 and they had one daughter, Martha, who married Daniel Shattuck (1692-1760). Digory married Mary in about 1696 and they had five children. Digory died in the winter of 1703/4. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Minnesota and Quebec.
A Shabby Spring in Tunisia
In 2011, the Tunisian masses took to the street and forced the president of the Republic to leave the country. Despite the fervor of the uprising, the situation has not changed much since. Certainly, there has been a remarkable advance in freedom of expression, but the values and behaviors of the old regime continue to govern the lives of Tunisians. The Constitution promulgated in 2014 does not bring any efficient response to the pending issues regarding politics, economics, and culture. In particular, it was content to repeat the vision already outlined in 1959 concerning identity. Almost a decade later, the democratic attempt is still on ups and downs and the game is far from reaching an end. Will we finally dare to take up the cultural challenges facing the new Republic and succeed in the transition from ethnoculture to pluralism? In a series of articles published between 2012 and 2018, collected in the book "A Shabby Spring in Tunisia", the author tries to shed an original light to explain the background of this "Tunisian Spring" in the shabby-chic style, which is struggling yet to reach maturity.
