New concepts and techniques and at the same time new areas of applications of the theory were found. The 31st session of the Seminaire de Mathematiques Superieures (SMS) held at the Universite de Montreal in July 1992 was on dynamical systems having as its center theme "Bifurcations and periodic orbits of vector fields". This session of the SMS was a NATO Advanced Study Institute (ASI). Where Mathematics, Computer Science, Linguistics and Biology Meet
In the last years, it was observed an increasing interest of computer scientists in the structure of biological molecules and the way how they can be manipulated in vitro in order to define theoretical models of computation based on genetic engineering tools. Along the same lines, a parallel interest is growing regarding the process of evolution of living organisms. Much of the current data for genomes are expressed in the form of maps which are now becoming available and permit the study of the evolution of organisms at the scale of genome for the first time. On the other hand, there is an active trend nowadays throughout the field of computational biology toward abstracted, hierarchical views of biological sequences, which is very much in the spirit of computational linguistics. In the last decades, results and methods in the field of formal language theory that might be applied to the description of biological sequences were pointed out.

Una mujer de negocios catalana en la Sicilia del siglo XV
El trabajo contenido en este libro consiste en el estudio y análisis del primero de los cuatro libros de cuentas a nombre de Catalina Llul y Çabastida, una mujer catalana que vivió entre Sicilia y Barcelona en la segunda mitad del siglo XV. Comenzando por el análisis de la fuente, un libro maestro que cubre los años 1472-1479, se intenta profundizar en los aspectos de aquel “medioevo al femminile” y en particular de aquellas figuras de mujeres, cuyo retrato no coincide con el cuadro de la mujer malcasada que surge de los tratados moralistas, de las palabras de los predicadores o de las páginas dedicadas por la historiografía a la mujer de la Edad Media.
