We chose Beja as the venue to host the conference, as it provided a good support infrastructure and Fernando had a good working relationship with several people at the Beja Polytechnic Institute. Long-lasting peaces
Long-lasting peaces: overcoming the war-peace hiatus for a sustainable future is composed by seven chapters distributed in 3 parts destined to provoke reflections about a common theme: the existent obstacles and plausible solutions to achieve sustainable peaces. Each one of the articles discusses, in a critical perspective, important issues of the international agenda. Smart Systems
This book aims to highlight the strength and state-of-art of some techniques and methods applied to intelligent systems. Rather to cover the variety of techniques and methods available in the literature, which is out of scope of this book, it focuses on those consolidated and applied and on those with high potential of implementation to smart systems. This book has fourteen chapters covering abroad range of topics in communications. The first three chapters are devoted to state-of-art and review papers on planar filters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), negative group delay, nanoclusters, and tunable lights, while the remain chapters cover specific topics such as smart monitoring, V2I, high-speed links, RF and Optical sensors, composite material, metamaterial, energy harvesting, radar, SWIPT, and electromagnetic sources.
Intelligent Data Engineering and Automated Learning – IDEAL 2020
This two-volume set of LNCS 12489 and 12490 constitutes the thoroughly refereed conference proceedings of the 21th International Conference on Intelligent Data Engineering and Automated Learning, IDEAL 2020, held in Guimaraes, Portugal, in November 2020.* The 93 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 134 submissions. These papers provided a timely sample of the latest advances in data engineering and machine learning, from methodologies, frameworks, and algorithms to applications. The core themes of IDEAL 2020 include big data challenges, machine learning, data mining, information retrieval and management, bio-/neuro-informatics, bio-inspiredmodels, agents and hybrid intelligent systems, real-world applications of intelligent techniques and AI. * The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
