This study analyzes the establishment of an iron foundry in the interior 18th-century of Angola. It was a fruit of the Portuguese Enlightenment, which encouraged investment in manufacturing, particularly of iron, a metal indispensable for military and technological purposes. The two countries are deeply connected, given how most enslaved Africans, forcibly brought to Brazil during the era of the Atlantic slave trade, were from West Central Africa. Human Needs' Analysis and Evaluation Model for Product Development
This book presents a model (HUNE) that assists in the insertion of human aspects in the product development process (PDP), at the beginning of a project, at the analyzed information, during its development and post-development, evaluating its suitability for human beings. The model proved to be actual with respect to the existing ones, dynamic and flexible, because it does not replace any model, but can be applied to other models, methods, or structures of PDPs, and enables scope, replication, and future improvements. Its applications brought satisfactory results, and it was very well evaluated by the participants in the application, by external experts and also through scientific publications.

The countries of Latin America and the Caribbean are immersed in the difficult task of recovering our agrifood systems hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this complex situation, tropical race 4 of the Musaceae fusarium wilt is undoubtedly the greatest challenge facing the banana and plantain agribusiness in our region. However, this context also constitutes an opportunity to encourage the development and introduction of innovations that strengthen biosecurity at different levels, the best crop and soil management practices and alternatives for the recovery of the affected countries. It is also necessary to comprehensively address the strengthening of the institutional framework related to pest management, the co-responsibility of the private sector, public-private collaboration and the involvement of society as a whole. With this document, FAO strengthens its commitment to continue supporting governments and contributing to agricultural sustainability, while increasing the resilience of the sector and livelihoods in the region.
