Biotransformation of Waste Biomass into High Value Biochemicals

Agro-industrial wastes are end-products emerging after industrial processing operations and also from their treatment and disposal e.g. solid fruit wastes and sludge. The agro-industrial wastes are often present in multiphase and comprise multicomponent. Nevertheless, these wastes are a goldmine as they possess valuable organic matter which can be diverted towards high value products ranging from polymers to antibiotics to platform chemicals. There have been plenty of books published on bioenergy, enzymes and organic acids, among others. However, this emerging field of biochemical has not yet been covered so far which is an important entity of the biorefinery model from waste biomass and needs to be understood from fundamental, applied as well as commercial perspective which has been laid out in this book.

So too is ‘the’ Sikh tradition in terms of practices, ideologies, rituals, and notions of identity. We here conclude that ‘a’ Sikh tradition does not exist; instead, there are numerous forms thereof. In this volume, Sikhism is presented as a collection of ‘Sikh traditions’. G...

This latest volume disseminates the recent advances, breakthroughs, and challenges of the valorization of fruit and vegetable industry waste. Numerous researchers have studied fruit and vegetable processing and waste valorization in general, but there is little work available to scientists and engineers regarding real-world solutions to practical everyday problems in this industry. The knowledge has to be made available in book format to facilitate academia, researchers, and the food manufacturing industry to utilize waste for extraction of valuable polysaccharides, additiv...

The Legend of Banda Bahadur

Banda Bahadur remains one of the most enigmatic and hence fascinating characters in Sikh history. On the one hand, there is a perception based on contemporary Muslim writers which makes him out to be a bloodthirsty savage.
