From an international career in classical ballet ended suddenly by an on-stage accident, Ken Ludden found himself perfectly suited to journalism. Follow this prolific writer's quirky path to an art form of communication-the written word-that had been so difficult for him to master as a student. His experiences in life, beginning with international travel at a young age and vast experience on stage, led him to write on a wide range of subjects: Classical Ballet -- Activism - AIDS/HIV - Alcoholism - Relationships - Celebrities - Sexuality - Employment - Politics - Family - Fashion - Health - Obituaries - Exercise - Cooking - History - Art - Education - Mysticism -- Entertainment and more. With more than two dozen books currently in print, Ludden's work chronicles life from the mid-1970s to the current, with a building authority along that route.

Margot Fonteyn's closest friends don't appear in Daneman's detailed biography. Lita Legarda (a doctor) gets a one line mention. Angie Novello (Margot's Washington Hostess), Theodora Christon (Margot's personal secretary) and Ken Ludden aren't mentioned at all. These were the people she trusted most, who kept her confidences and never spoke to the press. Everyone knew Margot differently. BQ, her mother, knew one Margot. Tito, her husband, knew another. Ludden, her circle's youngest by a large margin, knew yet another side of Margot: hence the title 'My Margot'. Ken shares that Margot--who taught him so much about ballet and life, and with whom he worked to plan ballet's future. Beyond Margot we learn about Ken's delightful relationship with BQ, a close friendship between a teenager and a woman of eighty. Ken also writes with unflinching honesty of the hostile relationship he had with Rudolf Nureyev, which developed over time into a grudging mutual respect and a shared grief when Margot died.

Classical Ballet 100 Rules is the first time the basic rules of movement, body, turning and style of classical ballet are in print. This book of rules is part of the legacy of Margaret Craske, Dame Margot Fonteyn, Carmen Mathe, Sallie Wilson, and all of the dancers who have studied and mastered classical theatrical dancing. Ken Ludden, with more than 40 books in print, publishes these rules to help students, professionals, and teachers to understand the complex system of classical ballet. But these rules also apply to all forms of dance. So even the contemporary, modern, jazz, lyrical, folk, or street dancer will benefit from this book.

The Academy Method was designed by Dame Margot Fonteyn and Ken Ludden over 12 years. The instructor certification program gives them international certification to teach in this method. This book covers the basic principles of the Academy Method. Review: ""Ken Ludden's teaches the fundamentals of ballet and all movement, and is groundbreaking and life changing! He works with the truth of movement...teaches to express through movement. He covers the step and how to execute it, then clearly explains the WHY for each exercise as it relates to center work and choreography. This book lays out how to build a dancer from the moment they enter the studio until they hit the stage as a professional. Try to see Ken's live lectures as well and study with him. He is a Master!"" -Autumn Mathisen

This small volume exposes part of that artistic fingerprint which will ultimately show what really did happen. It began with an assignment to a free-lance writer, sent out through a popular media net-the classified ads in the back of local newspapers. In response, writer Ken Ludden was the one chosen to fulfill the assignment. When the assignment first came to write Mary Go-Round, there was no way to anticipate its ultimate success. Neither editor nor the writer had any notion how timely this drama would be, nor that it would touch at the centerpiece of LGBT lives for time to come. Out of the original weekly story (which ran ultimately for 54 consecutive weeks and then was syndicated to other magazines for the next 14 years) came a novel, a 20-hour screen play for an epic television series, a script for a one act play and the script for the pilot series.

A Ballet Student's Companion is a book in the educational series by Fonteyn Academy Press. It goes with the Academy Method International Teacher Certificate program, but is quite helpful to all instructors and students of dance. Academy Method, taught at The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet, is based on the fundamental principles of movement as they apply to classical theatrical dancing. Carrying forward the teachings of Margaret Craske, and her students, this is what Dame Margot Fonteyn herself studied so long as she danced. Dance students are often left in the dark as to precisely how, why, when, and for what purpose they are to do the many tasks assigned. They are not taught the mechanics of steps, the background of the traditions, the origins of movements, positions and gestures, nor how they are to apply what they know. Through this book, and in the Academy Method, students will find answers to these questions and be able to develop certainty in their dancing
