Diversity in the workplace has made significant progress in United States companies. Unfortunately, much of the apparent progress has been at the surface level of diversity (Hiller & Day, 2004), where readily visible characteristics identify people of varying genders, ages, ethnicity, and religions. What are needed are prescriptions, based on solid theory and research, that will allow the deep-level diversity to transform well intentioned affirmative action programs from their old reliance on surface-level diversity to a new reliance on deep-level diversity. It is our hope that this volume will stimulate the scholarly activity needed to make progress toward the above stated goal of making deep-level diversity the benchmark of human progress in the workplace.

This volume is a collection of original studies based on one of the first research programs on comparative analysis of social capital. Data are drawn from national representative samples of the United States, China and Taiwan. The three societies selected for study allow the examination of how political-economic regimes (command versus market) and cultural factors (family centrality versus diverse social ties) affect the characteristics of social ties and social networks from which resources are accessed and mobilized.

Experts from around the world discuss the current state of affairs from a variety of perspectives, providing a cross-disciplinary view of the field. The underlying theme of the book is to explain how an organization can identify, measure, manage, leverage and act upon its collective intelligence towards the pursuit of sustainable innovation. The book is divided into three main parts which first establish a foundation of literature, then examine various measurement approaches and finally conclude with a variety of applications. "This collection of papers from the conference is special for its seminal research, strategic visions, and thought-provoking discussions. Make sure this book has a place in your library!" Dr. Jac Fitz-enz, Founder and Chairman, Saratoga Institute
Indian history and culture are dynamic, spanning back to the beginning of human civilization. It began with a mysterious culture that flourished along the Indus River as well as among the farming communities in the southern lands of India. And the history of India is punctuated by constant integration of migrating people with the diverse cultures that surrounded India. Available evidence suggests that the use of iron, copper, and other metals was widely prevalent in the Indian sub-continent at a fairly early period, which is indicative of the progress that this part of the world had made by the end of the fourth millennium BC. History is the chronological study of the life and civilization o...
