Plant pathogens, such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, insect pests, etc., can pose a great threat to plants in agricultural and natural ecosystems worldwide. The plant disease triangle illustrates that pathogenesis in the plant is not only the outcome of the interactions between the plant host and pathogens but also the consequence of their interactions with the microbiomes associated with plant hosts and pathogens. Both microbiomes associated with plant host and pathogen regulate plant health and pathogen infection. Microbes can play an important role in promoting plant growth, and protecting from pathogens and/or insects. A healthy plant microbiome is crucial for plant survival, pr...
This book constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Image and Graphics, ICIG 2015 held in Tianjin, China, in August 2015. The 164 revised full papers and 6 special issue papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 339 submissions. The papers focus on various advances of theory, techniques and algorithms in the fields of images and graphics.
Established in 1970, the PbZn symposium series is considered the leading international technical forum for the lead and zinc processing industries. The PbZn 2020 volume addresses all aspects of current processing technologies for primary and secondary lead and zinc, as well as emerging technologies for both metals.
This work expands on "Dragon Bytes", the author's earlier work on Chinese information warfare (IW) activities from 1999-2003. It explains how Chinese IW concepts since 2003 fit into the strategic outlook practices, and activities of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). It offers IW explanations directly from the pens of Chinese experts. The Chinese authors discuss the application or relation of IW to strategic thought, the transformation plans of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the revolution in military affairs (RMA), and the revolution in knowledge warfare and cognition.
"Advanced Tribology" is the proceedings of the 5th China International Symposium on Tribology (held every four years) and the 1st International Tribology Symposium of IFToMM, held in Beijing 24th-27th September 2008. It contains seven parts: lubrication; friction and wear; micro/nano-tribology; tribology of coatings, surface and interface; biotribology; tribo-chemistry; industry tribology. The book reflects the recent progress in the fields such as lubrication, friction and wear, coatings, and precision manufacture etc. in the world. The book is intended for researchers, engineers and graduate students in the field of tribology, lubrication, mechanical production and industrial design. The editors Jianbin Luo, Yonggang Meng, Tianmin Shao and Qian Zhao are all the professors at the State Key Lab of Tribology, Tsinghua University, Beijing.
This book reports thermo-mechanical coupling constitutive equations and impact damage distributions of 3-D braided composite materials under impulsive loadings, in multidisciplinary fields among mechanical engineering, textile engineering and impact dynamics. The 3-D braided composite is one of the unique textile composites with integrated braided preform structure. Currently the 3-D braided composite has been rapidly applied to aerospace, automotive and medical engineering because the materials could realize the integration of material structure to manufacture complex structural parts and reduce the number of assembly connections. This book presents a thermo-mechanical coupled multiscale ge...
The rise of the economic power of the ethnic Chinese, known also as overseas Chinese, Chinese overseas or Chinese diaspora, was a late 20th century phenomenon. It was partly the result of the rise of the Four Little Asian Dragons in the 1970s, and was speeded up by the tempo of globalization towards the end of that century. This book explores the ethnic identity and boundary of the Chinese as minority groups in foreign lands, and as sub-groups among the Chinese themselves. It examines prominent personalities that had wielded considerable influence in the ethnic Chinese communities in the economic, social and educational arenas. It also discusses the type of politics that had impacted their relationship with their mother country — China.Containing 16 papers presented at various international conferences in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan as keynote speeches and research findings which are predominantly unpublished in English, this book provides fresh perspectives and re-interpretations on the issues of ethnicity, leadership and politics in the ethnic Chinese worlds.
