New Trends in Statistical Physics
Prof Leopoldo Garcia-Colin will become 80 years old in 2010, therefore we are interested in the publication of a Festschrift (book) to honor him. Prof Garcia-Colin has worked in many different fields of statistical physics, and has applied it to biological physics, solid state physics, relativity and cosmology. We are planning a 500 pages book with original and peer-reviewed articles from his friends and former students. We may buy about 100 copies of it.

This volume presents a collection of original and peer-reviewed articles related with the applications of Statistical Physics dedicated to Professor Dr Leopoldo García-Colín, in commemoration of his 80th birthday in 2010. Professor García-Colín has worked in many different fields of statistical physics, and has applied it to biological physics, solid state physics, relativity and cosmology. These are pioneering works of Prof García-Colín involved in all various fields which have their roots in Mexico. His influence is found in each of these works that cover a wide range of topics including thermodynamics, statistical mechanics and kinetic theory applied to biological systems, cosmology and condensed matter, among others.Papers contributed by important experts in the field, such as J Lebowitz, as well as the latest classical applications of statistical physics can be found in this volume.
Developments in Mathematical and Experimental Physics
The FIRST MEXICAN MEETING ON MATHEMATICAL AND EXPERI MENTAL PHYSICS was held at EL COLEGIO N ACIONAL in Mexico Cit y, Mexico, from September 10 to 14, 2001. This event consisted of the LEOPOLDO GARciA-COLiN SCHERER Medal Lecture, delivered by Prof. Nicholas G. van Kampen, a series of plenary talks by Leopoldo Garcia-Colin, Giinter Nimtz, Luis F. Rodriguez, Ruoon Barrera, and Donald Saari, and of three parallel symposia, namely, Cosmology and Gravitation, Statistical Physics and Beyond, and Hydrodynamics and Dynamical Systems. The response from the Physics community was enthusiastic, with over 200 participants and around 80 speakers, from allover the world: USA, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Franc...
Instabilities, Bifurcations, and Fluctuations in Chemical Systems
Twentieth-century research in the field of chemical pattern formation saw extraordinary progress due to the pathbreaking contributions of Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine and his co-workers. Evidence exists that the dissipative structures studied by Prigogine and his colleagues may play a dominant role in the processes of self-organization of biological systems, the fundamental phenomena that govern all life forms. Brought together in this valuable volume are topical papers from the this research. Important aspects of nonlinear chemical pattern formation—dissipative structures—in chemical, biochemical, and geological systems are surveyed by leading scientists in the field of nonlinear chemistry. Topics covered include experimental observations of pattern formation in a variety of systems, bifurcation theory and analysis of nonlinear chemical rate equations, and the stochastic theory of nonlinear chemical reactions.
