Almost all verbs in Slovene (one of the least researched Slavic languages) have two aspectually different forms, the perfective (PF) and the imperfective (IF). But in institutional settings or settings strongly marked with social hierarchy, only the second, the imperfective form, is used by Slovene speakers in a performative sense. Why is that? Družba sv. Cirila in Metoda je bila ustanovljena leta 1885 kot slovenska zasebna šolska narodnoobrambna organizacija. Nedvomno je prispevala odločilen delež h krepitvi slovenske narodnostne (samo)zavesti v času, ko so se razmere v habsburški monarhiji na narodnostnem področju zelo zaostrile. Zlasti se je skušala postaviti po robu nemškemu in italijanskemu raznarodovalnemu delovanju na šolskem področju.

Po izidu monografije (2015) o rodbini Valvasor od začetkov do ugasnitve rodbinskega imena je pričujoče delo drugo v zbirki Thesaurus memoriae. Henrika Tume (1858–1935) prinaša priliko za razumevanje slovenske, avstrijske in evropske družbe ob koncu 19. ter na začetku 20. stoletja. Gre za izjemen dokument, ki se vključuje v zakladnico naše nacionalne dediščine kot dragoceno pričevanje o prelomnem in burnem zgodovinskem trenutku, ko sta bila Gorica in Trst še krepko vpeta v politično, kulturno in socialno tkivo slovenskega naroda. Tudi v tem smislu so Tumova pisma dragocena, saj nam pričajo, kako zelo se je naš bivanjski prostor zožil zaradi novih meja, ki jih je prinesel propad habsburške monarhije.
