I came across a rare Tamil book in the British Library in London. The authoress herself was born in a Devadasi family and had published a book in Tamil about 100 years ago. When I featured the book on Facebook, one research scholar approached me to translate it into English. I did a translation giving the gist of her writing. My thanks are due to that woman Ms Anjukam. Interesting Anecdotes From The World Of Music
The book titled INTERESTING ANECDOTES FROM THE WORLD OF MUSIC has a lot of anecdotes, stories and titbits collected over 11 years from various sources. There is very little matter written by me. It is a book of compiled matter from newspapers, books and lectures. I have anecdotes and stories from Carnatic musicians, Hindustani Musicians and Western Musicians. They are not available elsewhere in one single book. Rare information about music pillars inside the temples, origin of music from the Sama Veda, superstition about music. Origin of certain ragas, Tansen’s famous Tamarind tree, rain by music is all in the book. There are some serious articles about comparison between Western music and Indian music. Though the book is not comprehensive, it will be of interest even to non-musicians. The range of periods covered in the book is also amazing. We cover from the Rig Veda to modern day musicians.
Famous Trees Of India
‘FAMOUS TREES OF INDIA’ is my first book in English. It is a collection of articles written by me in the past 11 years. I have covered the trees as described in the Vedas, Upanishads, classical Sanskrit and Tamil literature, folk tales and temple Sthala Puranas. I have got more articles in my blog which would be published as second part. I have lifted some parts from some books for adding my comments, particularly to compare them with the available materials in Tamil and Sanskrit. I thank those original contributors. Hindus considered plants as Gods or the divine representatives on earth. The emphasis is on optimum use of them without destroying them completely. It is also insisted that it is our duty to raise and preserve them for posterity.
Animal Einsteins: Amazing Intelligence of Creatures in Nature
People show great interest in animal stories and anecdotes. Newspapers also publish incredible stories about animals and birds now and then; but they are not new. Even poets of Tamil and Sanskrit literature have recorded what they saw in real life. The poets used some of them as similes and others in their poems. From Vedic days Hindus have been observing nature and used them to teach lessons to people; There are several Subhasitas (golden sayings) in Sanskrit using animals. I have collected lot of such stories from literature and newspapers; bird omens are also believed in many cultures. Some birds like Bhulinga, Kulinga and Homa are yet to be identified and they may have become extinct. Hindus are unique in carrying gods on idols of animals and birds. It shows their continuous interest in living beings.

Amazing Time Travel by Hindu Saints
Hindu scriptures have many stories about Time Travel but devotees missed them. Only persons with a scientific bent could read between the lines. Hindus have described the Extra Terrestrials and aliens very clearly; they did inter galactic travel and wrote about them in Mahabharata and some Puranas. In the past fifty years only a handful of men went to moon in spite of tremendous developments in space science. In the same way inter galactic travel or descriptions of aliens are very few in Hindu scriptures. I personally don’t believe in Einstein’s theories. Slowly science journals also coming to that conclusion and write about time warps etc. Science fiction stories have more on parallel universe and travel in time. My research articles touch more subjects in this volume. Those who have read my previous book ‘Is Brahmastra a Nuclear Weapon?’ would know Hindus advanced far in science. I have added future predictions in that book. These articles are from what I wrote in in my two blogs in the past 12 years. Hope you will find this second book interesting and informative.
