Das Buch illustriert Leben und Leiden des bayerischen Königs und stützt sich dabei auf Aufzeichnungen Richard Wagners, Otto von Bismarcks, Felix Dahns und vieler weiterer Politiker, Künstler oder Schauspieler. Dabei kommt die Studie zu ganz neuen Erkenntnissen.
