This contributed volume features invited papers on current research and applications in mathematical structures. Featuring various disciplines in the mathematical sciences and physics, articles in this volume discuss fundamental scientific and mathematical concepts as well as their applications to topical problems. Special emphasis is placed on important methods, research directions and applications of analysis within and beyond each field. Covered topics include Metric operators and generalized hermiticity, Semi-frames, Hilbert-Schmidt operator, Symplectic affine action, Fractional Brownian motion, Walker Osserman metric, Nonlinear Maxwell equations, The Yukawa model, Heisenberg observables...
This book gathers invited, peer-reviewed works presented at the 2021 edition of the Classical and Constructive Nonassociative Algebraic Structures: Foundations and Applications—CaCNAS: FA 2021, virtually held from June 30 to July 2, 2021, in dedication to the memory of Professor Nebojša Stevanović (1962-2009). The papers cover new trends in the field, focusing on the growing development of applications in other disciplines. These aspects interplay in the same cadence, promoting interactions between theory and applications, and between nonassociative algebraic structures and various fields in pure and applied mathematics. In this volume, the reader will find novel studies on topics such a...
The topics discussed include recent developments in operator theory and orthogonal polynomials, coherent states and wavelet analysis, geometric methods in theoretical physics and quantum field theory, and the application of these methods of mathematical physics to problems in atomic and molecular physics as well as the world of the elementary particles and their fundamental interactions. This volume should be of interest to anyone working in a field using the mathematical methods of any of these general topics.
The Białowieża workshops on Geometric Methods in Physics are among the most important meetings in the field. Every year some 80 to 100 participants from both mathematics and physics join to discuss new developments and to interchange ideas. This volume contains contributions by selected speakers at the XXX meeting in 2011 as well as additional review articles and shows that the workshop remains at the cutting edge of ongoing research. The 2011 workshop focussed on the works of the late Felix A. Berezin (1931–1980) on the occasion of his 80th anniversary as well as on Bogdan Mielnik and Stanisław Lech Woronowicz on their 75th and 70th birthday, respectively. The groundbreaking work of Be...
The framework aims to provide global perspectives on principles, tools and mechanisms to support Member States and relevant stakeholders to mitigate and prevent biorisks and govern dual-use research. The framework adopts the One health approach and focuses on the role that responsible life sciences research can play in preventing and mitigating risks caused by accidents, inadvertent or deliberate misuse with the intention to cause harm to humans, nonhuman animals, plants and agriculture, and the environment. The framework is primarily intended for those who have responsibilities in the governance of biorisks, such as policy makers and regulators in charge of developing national policies to h...
The goal of the 2019 conference on Stochastic Processes and Algebraic Structures held in SPAS2019, Västerås, Sweden, from September 30th to October 2nd 2019 was to showcase the frontiers of research in several important topics of mathematics, mathematical statistics, and its applications. The conference has been organized along the following tracks: 1. Stochastic processes and modern statistical methods in theory and practice, 2. Engineering Mathematics, 3. Algebraic Structures and applications. This book highlights the latest advances in algebraic structures and applications focused on mathematical notions, methods, structures, concepts, problems, algorithms, and computational methods for...
This set of peer-reviewed papers has come from the XXVIth International Workshop on Geometrical Methods in Physics and will be of huge interest to researchers. The workshop covered a range of mathematical problems related to the description of quantum physical systems as well as to classical ones. Physicists will find material here on integrability and the quantization of classical systems, while mathematical subjects covered include, among others, lie algebras and quantum groups.
The COPROMAPH Conference series has now evolved into a significant international arena where fundamental concepts in mathematical and theoretical physics and their physics applications can be conceived, developed and disseminated. Basic ideas for addressing a variety of contemporary problems in mathematical and theoretical physics are presented in a nonintimidating atmosphere. Experts provide the reader the fundamentals to predict new possibilities in physics and other fields. The proceedings have been selected for coverage in:• Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings® (ISTP® / ISI Proceedings)• Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings (ISTP CDROM version / ISI Proceedings)• CC Proceedings — Engineering & Physical Sciences
This volume presents a catalogue of over 2000 doctoral theses by Africans in all fields of mathematics, including applied mathematics, mathematics education and history of mathematics. The introduction contains information about distribution by country, institutions, period, and by gender, about mathematical density, and mobility of mathematicians. Several appendices are included (female doctorate holders, doctorates in mathematics education, doctorates awarded by African universities to non-Africans, doctoral theses by non-Africans about mathematics in Africa, activities of African mathematicians at the service of their communities). Paulus Gerdes compiled the information in his capacity of Chairman of the African Mathematical Union Commission for the History of Mathematics in Africa (AMUCHMA). The book contains a preface by Mohamed Hassan, President of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) and Executive Director of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS). (383 pp.)
