Basic Sciences of Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine has become an ever-changing and expanding diagnostic and therapeutic medical profession. The day-to-day innovations seen in the field are, in great part, due to the integration of many scientific bases with complex technologic advances. The aim of this reference book, Basic Sciences of Nuclear Medicine, is to provide the reader with a comprehensive and detailed discussion of the scientific bases of nuclear medicine, covering the different topics and concepts that underlie many of the investigations and procedures performed in the field. Topics include radiation and nuclear physics, Tc-99m chemistry, single-photon radiopharmaceuticals and PET chemistry, radiobiology and radiation dosimetry, image processing, image reconstruction, quantitative SPECT imaging, quantitative cardiac SPECT, small animal imaging (including multimodality hybrid imaging, e.g., PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and PET/MRI), compartmental modeling, and tracer kinetics.

The History of the Coptic Orthodox Church in the United States

"And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.'"-Mark 16:15 In the middle of the first century, God sent St. Mark the Evangelist to proclaim the Good News and teach the Egyptians about the true God. He became the first pope and patriarch of the See of St. Mark and the founder of the Coptic Orthodox Church. For centuries, the Coptic Church remained mostly within the boundaries of Egypt, and the majority of Copts, including the clergy, were against the idea of immigration. But there were exceptions: Pope Cyril VI, the late Bishop Samuel, and the blessed Fr. Mikhail Ibrahim supported and encouraged immigration. And in the middle of the twentieth century, t...

Coptic Studies on the Threshold of a New Millennium

The congresses organised every four years under the auspices of the International Association for Coptic Studies (IACS) are the main forum for scholars of Egyptian Christian life and culture through the ages. The proceedings of the seventh congress, which was held in Leiden in 2000, comprise ninety-nine papers, reflecting the growth and diversification of Coptic studies worldwide. They include valuable and sometimes groundbreaking essays in topics of, for example, Coptic language, literature, monasticism and archaeology. A particularly noteworthy and important feature of the present proceedings are the state-of-the-art reviews of current trends and achievements in the main fields of the discipline, written by invited experts and accompanied by extensive bibliographies. These review articles cover aspects of Coptic studies as diverse as papyrology, gnosticism, liturgy, Copto-Arabic and art history. They turn these two volumes into real reference books, indispensable for every scholar of early Church history, late antiquity and Near Eastern Christianity.

The Truth About Islam

The Truth About Islam

Non-Muslims in Islamic countries are exposed to the religion of Islam 24 hours, seven days a week, for their entire life (No freedom of choice here). They hear five prayers between 6: 00 AM and 8: 00 PM everyday on radio, television, Loud Speakers and other public address systems that cover every square inch of the country, whether they want to or not. They get to hear the Koran recited for hours every day. The non-Muslim is a second class citizen who is not allowed to rule or hold key position in the country. He can live in the abode of Islam as long as he doesn't preach his religions outside his community, doesn't insult Islam or criticize the Prophet, and he must pay a religion tax. The punishment for leaving Islam is death (most recently a young woman killed in Saudi Arabia and one in Jordan for leaving Islam; Sept. 2008]. Islam gives its followers the right to kill non-Muslims, and take their wives, children, and possessions as a booty blessed by the Koran and the Hadith. Only a Muslim man can legally lie to his wives, and his enemies.
