"All political and military conflicts now have a cyber dimension, the size and impact of which are difficult to predict. Internet-enabled propaganda, espionage, and attacks on critical infrastructure can target decision makers, weapons systems, and citizens in general, during times of peace or war. Traditional threats to national security now have a digital delivery mechanism which would increase the speed, diffusion, and power of an attack. There have been no true cyber wars to date, but cyber battles of great consequence are easy to find. This book is divided into two sections--Strategic viewpoints and Technical challenges & solutions--and highlights the growing connection between computer security and national security"--P. 4 of cover.
Foreword from the Program Chairs These proceedings contain the papers selected for presentation at the 10th - ropean Symposium on Research in Computer Security (ESORICS), held S- tember 12–14, 2005 in Milan, Italy. In response to the call for papers 159 papers were submitted to the conf- ence. These paperswere evaluated on the basis of their signi?cance, novelty, and technical quality. Each paper was reviewed by at least three members of the program committee. The program committee meeting was held electronically, holding intensive discussion over a period of two weeks. Of the papers subm- ted, 27 were selected for presentation at the conference, giving an acceptance rate of about 16%. The ...
The book is a collection of invited papers on Computational Intelligence for Privacy and Security. The majority of the chapters are extended versions of works presented at the special session on Computational Intelligence for Privacy and Security of the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN-2010) held July 2010 in Barcelona, Spain. The book is devoted to Computational Intelligence for Privacy and Security. It provides an overview of the most recent advances on the Computational Intelligence techniques being developed for Privacy and Security. The book will be of interest to researchers in industry and academics and to post-graduate students interested in the latest advances and developments in the field of Computational Intelligence for Privacy and Security.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection, RAID 2006, held in Hamburg, Germany in September 2006. The 16 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 93 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on anomaly detection, attacks, system evaluation and threat assessment, malware collection and analysis, anomaly- and specification-based detection, and network intrusion detection.
Welcome to 1M 2003, the eighth in a series of the premier international technical conference in this field. As IT management has become mission critical to the economies of the developed world, our technical program has grown in relevance, strength and quality. Over the next few years, leading IT organizations will gradually move from identifying infrastructure problems to providing business services via automated, intelligent management systems. To be successful, these future management systems must provide global scalability, for instance, to support Grid computing and large numbers of pervasive devices. In Grid environments, organizations can pool desktops and servers, dynamically creatin...
On behalf of the Program Committee, it is our pleasure to present the p- ceedings of the 11th International Symposium on Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection (RAID 2008), which took place in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA on September 15–17. The symposium brought together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government and industry to discuss intrusion detection research and practice. There were six main sessions presenting full-?edged research papers (rootkit prevention, malware detection and prevention, high performance - trusion and evasion, web application testing and evasion, alert correlation and worm detection, and anomaly detection and network tra?c analysis), a se...
