MoMoWo. Women. Architecture & Design Itineraries across Europe
Arhitekturni vodič predstavlja izbrane projekte žensk na področju arhitekture in oblikovanja 20. in 21. stoletja. Obsega predstavitve dosežkov žensk v štirih evropskih mestih in dveh deželah: Barcelona, Lizbona, Pariz, Torino, Nizozemska in Slovenija. Vsak od teh je predstavljen z uvodnikom in tremi potmi, na koncu pa za vsako deželo sledi krajši zapis o eni od pionirk na področju arhitekture in oblikovanja. V vodiču je predstavljenih 125 objektov, poleg bogatih ilustracij pa nudi tudi osnovne informacije o dostopnosti izbrane lokacije. Gender and Activism
This 'Yearbook' attends to various ways in which women were active and organized themselves in order to question sex and gender related issues in the political arena. Covering a diverse range of cultures and political situations the Yearbook discusses how women protested against perceived religious suppression; actively participated in local democratic political institutions whilst not really changing gender-roles; or discussed experienced discrepancies between socialism and feminism. How do women find their ways in democratic systems of governance? What do these systems offer them in terms of emancipation and involvement in political decision making affecting their lives?

Gender and Genes
This Yearbook of Women's History (Jaarboek voor Vrouwengeschiedenis) is dedicated to Gender and Genes. Intruding upon our everyday lives, the world of DNA, genes and genomics has become a challenging field of research, both clinical and biomedical as well as socio-cultural. It is also a challenging topic for a Yearbook which traditionally focuses on women and gender from a historical point of view. Gender issues are part and parcel of genes and genomics in scientific research and socio-cultural discourses and representations. Current literature on genes and genomics does not abound in analyses of biomedical and socio-cultural realms where gender aspects are played out and exchanged. This Yearbookmay thus contribute to a field of analysis which contextualizes history from the viewpoint of current biotechnological developments. This volume contains articles on medical cases (reproductive testing and the case of the sex chromosomes, and framing cancer risk in women and men), cultural representations, a portrait of female scientist Rosalin Franklin and interviews with feminist science philosophers Katarina Karkazis and Donna Dickenson.
Under Fire: Women and World War II
Since the 1970s, when the dominance of military histories of the World Wars ended, and social historical histories of conflict rose to prominence, women have come to play an increasingly important role in mainstream stories about the Second World War. Although this is undeniably a valuable development, the perspectives on women that arose have in many respects remained limiting – although in new ways. Women have been portrayed as carers, as victims (notably of sexual violence), but rarely as agents of their own fate. This volume focuses on this last group. In spite of the undeniable suffering and victimization that befell so many women during the war, for others the war also opened opportunities and awakened ambitions. The articles in this volume, which cover both Europe and Asia, bring together some of the women who took initiatives, of which they sometimes suffered the dire consequences, sometimes enjoyed the fruits.
Gender and Archiving: Past, Present, Future
This 37th volume of the Yearbook of Women's History focuses on the meaning and potential of archiving for enhancing gender equality and the position of women worldwide. More than just storehouses of knowledge, archives offer new ways for understanding the past, debating the present and creating the future. Focusing on both traditional and non-traditional archival practices, in various parts of the world, the Yearbook of Women’s History explores the meaning of archiving for women and women’s history. Besides investigating the feminist potential of the archive, it also examines questions of erasure and forgetting. While archives may have emancipatory or democratizing potential, practices of discarding equally shape the histories that can be written, and the stories that can be told. The articles in this volume are alternated with descriptions of collections and institutes, and the topics addressed cover a full range of archival theory and practice. This volume has been produced by the editorial board of the Yearbook of Women's History in collaboration with Atria, institute on gender equality and women's history in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Living concepts
How do concepts such as ‘the body’, ‘intimacy’, ‘adventure’ and ‘intersectionality‘ shape our engagement with gender history? In this 40th anniversary edition of the Yearbook we revisit the question how concepts ‘live’ in gender research practices and what it means to ‘do’ gender history in 2021. Contributors include experienced researchers who have spent years, sometimes decades, contemplating the conceptual background of their work as well as scholars who have come to the field more recently and who therefore provide a different insight. As such this Yearbook shows how certain concepts travel within academic culture across the Low Countries, revealing not so much the theoretical underpinnings of the field, but rather how these theoretical underpinnings find a home in individual research practices and may be used in surprising ways.
