2023 Catholic Media Association Third Place Award, Future Church Praedicate Evangelium (Preach the Gospel) is one of the most important legislative acts that Pope Francis has promulgated since his election in 2013. In addition to the full text of this new constitution, this book features world-renowned theologian Massimo Faggioli’s explanation of the significance and limitations of this document. Bringing his unique insight as an Italian church historian, Faggioli explains how the constitution tries to apply, in a way that is different from the reforms of both Paul VI in 1967 and John Paul II in 1988, the ecclesiology of Vatican II to the structure and culture of the Roman Curia. It puts into motion many different aspects of the whole pontificate of Francis, including his desire for more diversity in the college of cardinals, decentralization of papal power, the reform of the economic and financial institutions of the Vatican, and the necessary structure to manage the global clergy abuse crisis in the Catholic Church.

For over a century, facts have been silenced, documents and historical monuments falsified, and whole parts of history fabricated, with the aim of creating a glorious Serbo-Yugoslav history, and to demean Croatian history and freedom of thought. The falsifiers made every effort to break the unity of the Croatian people, and thus imposed a model whereby all Orthodox Christians were Serbs. The deepest hidden secret in modern-day democratic Croatia is that the Orthodox faith and Orthodox Church of the Croatian people did indeed exist. This book disproves the accumulated lies, points to facts and historical truth and allows for a better understanding of the historic course of the restoration of the Croatian Orthodox Church. On December 1, 2013, Patriarch Nicolas signed a Tomos granting autocephaly to the Croatian Orthodox Church. This book provides readers with answers to why the Croatian Orthodox Church is unlawfully being prevented registration in the Republic of Croatia.
Religion in the Post-Yugoslav Context brings together a diverse group of scholars, each of them specializing in the role of religion in one of the Yugoslav successor states. In addition to providing the readership with the understanding of both the general context (religion during the disintegration of the Yugoslav state) as well as more specific aspects (individual post-Yugoslav states), this rich collection complements the existing research in the fields of religious studies and political science. It represents an important source for scholars and students interested in the post-Yugoslav dynamic. Moreover, this kind of analysis is of major relevance for state and non-state actors involved in promotion of religious tolerance.
From Slovenia to Turkey, social movements and protests have shaken the political systems of Southeast Europe. Confronting issues such as austerity, the provision and privatisation of welfare, public utilities and public space, corruption, bureaucratic inefficiency, environmental concerns and authoritarian tendencies, these revolts have also served as conduits for broader social and political discontent. While they have contributed to the defeat of unpopular policies and practices and the fall of governments, perhaps their most significant impact has been in creating dynamic political and social actors and contributing to the realignment of the political space. This volume sheds new light on ...

Hrvati pravoslavci oduvijek bili i ostali dio hrvatskog naroda. Patrijarh Nikolas І. dodijelio autokefalnost Hrvatskoj pravoslavnoj Crkvi potpisivanjem Tomosa dana 1. prosinca 2013., dok vlast u Hrvatskoj izbjegava njezinu registraciju.
A behind-the-scenes view of the power struggles within the Vatican and “a look inside the byzantine halls of the institutional Catholic Church.”—Publishers Weekly A journalist who has long covered the Vatican, Marco Politi takes us deep inside the struggle roiling the Roman Curia and the Catholic Church worldwide, beginning with Benedict XVI, the pope who famously resigned in 2013, and intensifying with the unexpected election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires, now known as Pope Francis. Politi’s account balances the perspectives of Pope Francis’s supporters, Benedict’s sympathizers, and those disappointed members of the laity who feel alienated by the institut...
