Emma and I most cordially invite you to accompany us as our special arm-chair guest on an overland journey through the most exciting continent on the Planet Earth. We shall begin our journey in Cape Town, South Africa in the fall of 1964. During the following ten months we will travel and camp along Africas Great North Road. A variety of recently created nations and peoples, a few still struggling to be free, will be visited, among them, South Africa, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and the Congo. Descendants of Joseph Shirk, Inventor-surveyor (1820-1902), and Esther Horning
Joseph Shirk was born 30 January 1820 in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His parents were Peter Shirk (1785-1845) and Sarah Sensenig. He married Esther Horning (1826-1901) in about 1850. They had thirtenn children. Joseph died 19 August 1902. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania.

Family history and genealogical information about the descendants of Michael Peters who was born 26 November 1717 in Germany and immigrated to America sometime prior to the year 1758. His two known children (Michael Jr. and Stephen) were both born in Virginia. Michael Jr. (born ca. 1757) married Hannah Dillman ca. 1777. Stephen Peters (born 12 June 1748) married Molly Dillman ca. 1773. Descendants of Michael Peters Jr. and Stephen Peters lived in Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, California, Washington and elsewhere.
Frantz Families -- Kith & Kin
Michael and Christian Frantz were born in Switzerland about 1685. They and possibly another brother came to America about 1725 and settled in Pennsylvania with other Mennonites. Later descendants became members of the United Brethren Church and moved to Virginia, Ohio and Indiana before separating and gradually settling throughout the west and other areas of the United States. Several branches live in California and elsewhere.
