Exploring Services Science
Service science constitutes an interdisciplinary approach to systematic innovation in service systems, integrating managerial, social, legal and engineering aspects to address the theoretical and practical challenges of the service industry and its economy. This book contains the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Exploring Service Science (IESS), held in Geneva, Switzerland, in February 2014. The ten full papers accepted for IESS were selected from 31 submissions and presented ideas and results related to innovation, service management, service engineering and service discovery.
Metal, Rock, and Jazz
A lively comparison of musical meaning in Ohio's Jazz, metal, and hard rock scene. This vivid ethnography of the musical lives of heavy metal, rock, and jazz musicians in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio shows how musicians engage with the world of sound to forge meaningful experiences of music. Unlike most popular music studies, which only provide a scholar's view, this book is based on intensive fieldwork and hundreds of hours of in-depth interviews. Rich descriptions of the musical life of metal bars and jazz clubs get readers close to the people who make and listen to the music. Of special interest are Harris M. Berger's interviews with Timmy "The Ripper" Owens, now famous as lead singer for the pioneering heavy metal band, Judas Priest. Owens and other performers share their own experiences of the music, thereby challenging traditional notions of harmony and musical structure. Using ideas from practice theory and phenomenology, Berger shows that musical perception is a kind of practice, both creatively achieved by the listener and profoundly informed by social context.
The Practice of Enterprise Modeling
This volume constitutes the proceedings of the Second IFIP WG 8.1 Working Conference on the Practice of Enterprise Modeling, which took place in Stockholm, Sweden, during November 18-19, 2009. The conference series constitutes a dedicated forum where practice of Enterprise Modeling (EM) is addressed by bringing together researchers, users, and practitioners in order to develop a better understanding of the subject, and to improve the practice of EM, as well as to share knowledge and experience. The 17 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. The topics covered are experiences in EM, the process of modeling, EM in information systems development, model quality and reuse, enterprise modeling for service modeling, and new ventures in enterprise modeling.

Important aspects of social networking analysis are covered in this work by combining experimental and theoretical research. A specific focus is devoted to emerging trends and the industry needs associated with utilizing data mining techniques. Some of the techniques covered include data mining advances in the discovery and analysis of communities, in the personalization of solitary activities (like searches) and social activities (like discovering potential friends), in the analysis of user behavior in open fora (like conventional sites, blogs and fora) and in commercial platforms (like e-auctions), and in the associated security and privacy-preservation challenges; as well as social network modeling, scalable, customizable social network infrastructure construction, and the identification and discovery of dynamic growth and evolution patterns using machine learning approaches or multi-agent based simulation. The Practice of Enterprise Modeling
This volume constitutes the proceedings of the 6th IFIP WG 8.1 Conference on the Practice of Enterprise Modeling held in November 2013 in Riga, Latvia. The focus of the PoEM conference series is on advances in the practice of enterprise modeling through a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences between the academic community and practitioners from industry and the public sector. The 19 papers accepted were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. They reflect different topics of enterprise modeling including quality of models, change management and transformation, approaches and tools for agility and flexibility, enterprise modeling and business processes, enterprise modeling and information systems and enterprise modeling cases. Additionally, one of the two keynotes is also included in this volume.
