Nesse sentido, os seus textos contêm sínteses de vários debates e tensionamentos sobre a realidade educacional contemporânea, que resultaram, à luz da Teoria Crítica frankfurtiana, na necessidade de se repensar a educação numa perspectiva mais democrática e emancipatória. Por isso, é uma obra que reúne objetos diversos tendo como farol essa teoria que, diante dos extremismos ocorridos no século 20, não desconsidera que o totalitarismo continua à espreita, requerendo uma formação capaz de resistir ao capital e à indústria cultural, em prol da humanização e da democracia.
