Phase-Separation Phenomena in Glasses / Likvatsionnye Yavleniya v Steklakh / Ликвационные Явления в Стеклах

The First All-Union Symposium on Phase-Separation Phenomena in Glasses was held in Lenin grad from April 16 to 18, 1968. The symposium was organized by the Section of the structure of glass and the nature of the glassy state of the Scientific Council for the problem "New Tech nical Materials and Coatings Based on Glass and Refractory Compounds" of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, by the Scientific Council for the problem "Physicochemical Principles of Production of New Heat-Resistant Inorganic Mate rials" of the Division of Physical Chemistry and Technology of Inorganic Materials, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, by the Leningrad regiona...

Glass Chemistry

Glass Chemistry is concerned with the relation of chemical composition, structure and properties of various glasses. The book has been translated from the third German edition, which serves as a textbook for university students in materials sciences and a reference book for scientists and engineers in glass science and production. The central themes of the book are the chemistry and physics of glass. Detailed knowledge of the compositional and structural facts is the basis for the systematic development of new glasses as construction and optical materials. Glass Chemistry is an interdisciplinary book on the borderlines between chemistry, physics, mineralogy and even biology and medicine. The book represents a well balanced treatment for students, scientists and engineers.

Progress in Catalyst Deactivation

Most catalysts used in the chemical and petrochemical indus tries are strongly affected by one or another form of deactivation, leading to poor performances and reduced life. The increasing num ber of scientific communications devoted to the subject in recent years, and culminating with an International Symposium held in Antwerp in October 1980, is a measure of the interest it arouses in both the industrial and academic communities. A stage has been reached whereby it was thought that a NATO Advanced Study Institute on "Catalyst Deactivation" might be fruit ful in establishing the state of the art and in stimulating a more systematic research on the phenomenon. Such a meeting was held ~n Lag...
