The two volumes LNCS 10249 and 10250 constitute the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Semantic Web Conference, ESWC 2017, held in Portorož, Slovenia. The 51 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 183 submissions. In addition, 10 PhD papers are included, selected out of 14 submissions. The papers are organized in the following tracks: semantic data management, big data, and scalability; linked data; machine learning; mobile web, sensors, and semantic streams; natural language processing and information retrieval; vocabularies, schemas, and ontologies; reasoning; social web and web science; semantic web and transparency; in use and industrial track; and PhD symposium. The paper 'Linked Data Notifications: A Resource-Centric Communication Protocol' is published open access under a CC BY 4.0 license at link.springer.com.

The Semantic Web - ISWC 2010
The two-volume set LNCS 6496 and 6497 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 9th International Semantic Web Conference, ISWC 2010, held in Shanghai, China, during November 7-11, 2010. Part I contains 51 papers out of 578 submissions to the research track. Part II contains 18 papers out of 66 submissions to the semantic Web in-use track, 6 papers out of 26 submissions to the doctoral consortium track, and also 4 invited talks. Each submitted paper were carefully reviewed. The International Semantic Web Conferences (ISWC) constitute the major international venue where the latest research results and technical innovations on all aspects of the Semantic Web are presented. ISWC brings together researchers, practitioners, and users from the areas of artificial intelligence, databases, social networks, distributed computing, Web engineering, information systems, natural language processing, soft computing, and human computer interaction to discuss the major challenges and proposed solutions, the success stories and failures, as well the visions that can advance research and drive innovation in the Semantic Web.

An ontology is a formal description of concepts and relationships that can exist for a community of human and/or machine agents. The notion of ontologies is crucial for the purpose of enabling knowledge sharing and reuse. The Handbook on Ontologies provides a comprehensive overview of the current status and future prospectives of the field of ontologies considering ontology languages, ontology engineering methods, example ontologies, infrastructures and technologies for ontologies, and how to bring this all into ontology-based infrastructures and applications that are among the best of their kind. The field of ontologies has tremendously developed and grown in the five years since the first edition of the "Handbook on Ontologies". Ontology Alignment Using Biologically-inspired Optimisation Algorithms
It is investigated how biologically-inspired optimisation methods can be used to compute alignments between ontologies. Independent of particular similarity metrics, the developed techniques demonstrate anytime behaviour and high scalability. Due to the inherent parallelisability of these population-based algorithms it is possible to exploit dynamically scalable cloud infrastructures - a step towards the provisioning of Alignment-as-a-Service solutions for future semantic applications.
