Successful local projects are described in each category. A section on basic tools provides guidelines for organizing a community project and obtaining necessary resources. The section on food covers co-ops, home and community gardening, community nutrition, and food needs of the elderly. The section on health discusses care centers, specialized services, health education and self-care, health planning, and health care reform. Appendices contain organization names and addresses and other resource materials.
