Optimization Models for Rail Car Fleet Management represents the result of multi-year efforts to provide readers with insights into one of the most important areas of railway transport management. The book covers mathematical procedures for the effective and efficient utilization of railway freight cars, developed models for optimization methods, heterogeneity and partial substitutability of freight cars, research and development in rail freight car fleet management models, and the stochastic and dynamic nature of the supply, demand and traveling time of freight cars, among other topics.
The rail-based transit system is a popular public transportation option, not just with members of the public but also with policy makers looking to install a form of convenient and rapid travel. Even for moving bulk freight long distances, a rail-based system is the most sustainable transportation system currently available. The Handbook of Research on Emerging Innovations in Rail Transportation Engineering presents the latest research on next-generation public transportation infrastructures. Emphasizing a diverse set of topics related to rail-based transportation such as funding issues, policy design, traffic planning and forecasting, and engineering solutions, this comprehensive publication is an essential resource for transportation planners, engineers, policymakers, and graduate-level engineering students interested in uncovering research-based solutions, recommendations, and examples of modern rail transportation systems.
This book includes extended and revised selected papers from the 10th International Conference on Smart Cities and Green ICT Systems, SMARTGREENS 2021, and 7th International Conference on Vehicle Technology and Intelligent Transport Systems, VEHITS 2021, held as virtual event, in April 28–30, 2021. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 crisis. The 22 full papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 140 submissions. The papers present research on advances and applications in the fields of smart cities, electric vehicles, sustainable computing and communications, energy aware systems and technologies, intelligent vehicle technologies, intelligent transport systems and infrastructure, connected vehicles.
Siimppozijum se organizovao pod pokroviteljstvom Ministarstva prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije, u saradnji Redakcije vodećeg nacionalnog časopisa „JAES - Journal of Applied Engineering Science“ i Mašinskog fakulteta u Beogradu.
