Medication without harm: policy brief
Patient harm due to unsafe care is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide and most of this harm is avoidable. Harm due to medicines and therapeutic options accounts for nearly 50% of preventable harm in medical care. The main objective of this policy brief is to support successful implementation of the third WHO Global Patient Safety Challenge: Medication Without Harm, and to advocate for prioritizing medication safety in health care. This report summarizes the lessons learned from several countries in developing and implementing national programmes for occupational health for health workers. The report is based on an online workshop held on 15 July 2020. It is intended for public health policy makers, occupational health and other experts and key stakeholders at the national level who are interested in protecting health and safety of health workers.

The indicators have been identified on the basis of their relevance and feasibility by experts from across the globe.
