The works by the Vietnamese artist who combines archaic and modern elements in an art form that can be called spiritual and naïve Nguyen Thi Mai (1966) is a self-taught artist based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She works mainly with acrylic painting and lacquer painting, although she is also experienced with oil on canvas, silk painting and ink painting. Lacquer painting is a traditional Vietnamese art form, with the painting done on wooden boards. However, Nguyen Thi Mai has given this traditional art form a new twist with her own unique technique. It is usual for lacquer paintings to have a glossy finishing. However, with her technique, Mai's lacquer paintings have a matte finishing. Thus...

This report identifies the driving forces for reforestation in three villages of Northern Vietnam. Using an institutional analysis focused on the rules governing upland access and use, the authors assess the relative impact of state policies (reforestation programs and forestland allocation) on land use change. Findings show that the latter are indirectly responsible for reforestation, but not because of the incentives they provided. Instead, they disrupted the local rules governing annual crop cultivation and grazing activities leading to the end of annual cropping. Tree plantation was chosen by farmers as a last resort option. Lessons learned highlight the importance of local level studies and collective rules for land management.

Over past few years, technologies have experienced boundaries getting blurred and concept of convergence to gain prominence. Harnessing from this, two main tracks for information processing management and communication are held, covering both research and application works of information management, intelligent information processing, interaction management, networking/ telecommunications, and social interaction. This book creates unique opportunity for research convergence among truly diverse technology domains of computer science. Leveraging from this diversity of topics, researchers get to generate novel research ideas by seeking application of their research in a different technology dom...
