Multi-dimensional dynamic simulation of rainstorm waterlogging in urban communities
One major threat to cities at present is the increasing rainstorm waterlogging hazards due to climate change and accelerated urbanization. This paper explores the mechanism of rainstorm waterlogging and enables the fine simulation of surface water propagation over complex urban terrain. A novel community-scale waterlogging modeling scheme is presented by loosely coupling a one-dimensional sewer model with a two-dimensional overland model under an open-source framework. Dynamic Response and Deformation Characteristic of Saturated Soft Clay under Subway Vehicle Loading
Involving several areas of geological engineering, geotechnical engineering and tunnel engineering, this book describes the soft soil deformation characteristics and dynamic responses induced by subway vibration load. Based on field monitoring and laboratory testing data, with both comprehensive micro-and macroanalysis, the authors present dynamic characteristics and deformation settlement of saturated soft clay surrounding subway tunnels using dynamic and static methodology. Mechanism of deformation, failure in microstructure of soft clay soil, dynamic response, macro deformation and settlement are all discussed and analyzed thoroughly and systematically. Some of the research findings in this book have been widely applied by large subway companies and will have broader application prospects in future. All the above make this book a valuable reference not only for technical engineers working in subway design or construction but also for advanced graduate students. Yingjin Zhang guides the reader through the development of Chinese film criticism, pointing out that Western critics have studied a comparatively small number of films from a much larger body of work, often with a unidirectional Eurocentric bias. The result has been that the few have influenced the many, perpetuating a cycle of production of films from China that bow to the Western notion of "Chineseness." As a corrective, the author introduces readers to a much larger canon of film and proposes a multidirectional model of film studies, one that allows for a Western reading of Chinese film yet also recognizes Chinese cinema's own voice.
