Islam on the Move

"Much nuance and variability have been lost in the process of the reductivist analysis of Islam post 9/11 and, as this study amply demonstrates, we are all the poorer as a result. This exhaustive examination of the rise and spread of the Tablighi Jama'at, arguably the world's largest Islamic missionary movement, locates it in the larger perspective of global Islam and developments in the Muslim societies. Combining an overview of the history and current socio-political perception of the Tablighi Jama'at with a more analytical and philosophical approach to fundamental questions of identity, subject-positioning and representation, the author creates a comprehensive resource of interest to all ...

Our Story

This anthology presents 50 selected stories by the students of Study Program of English, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, who were taking Paragraph Writing in the second semester of 2019/2020. These stories belong to the narrative paragraph category, one of the four genres that the students learned and practiced in this class. This book is expected to allow the students to tell their stories to a wider audience and to get inspired to write more. While reading the book, the audience will be able to catch a glimpse of what unforgettable experiences these young writers have—some of these experiences are beautiful, some others are embarrassing, upsetting, scary, or sad, but all of them have taught an important lesson to the writers. We hope you enjoy this book. Comments and suggestions for future improvement would be greatly appreciated.

Student Traveller: Let’s Explore the Nirvana of Indonesia

Beyond the urban landscapes, the students venture into the heart of Indonesia's natural wonders. They encounter many things that they haven't seen before, gadang clock at Padang, they also meet fascinating wildlife like orangutans in the wildlife rescue center, and a beautiful tea garden in Bandung. They hike through lush rainforests, and relax on pristine beaches with powdery white sand and crystal-clear waters. The book also highlights Indonesia's cultural diversity, introducing readers to the fascinating traditions and customs of various ethnic groups. By the end of the journey, we return home with a treasure trove of memories, a deeper understanding of Indonesia's cultural tapestry, and a desire to continue exploring the world around them. No matter how many times you visit Indonesia, you will never run out of places to visit, things to see, cuisine to eat, and experiences to have.
