Ultrasound Technology for Clinical Practitioners A hands-on and practical roadmap to ultrasound technology for clinical practitioners who use it every day In Ultrasound Technology for Clinical Practitioners, distinguished medical physicist and vascular ultrasound scientist Crispian Oates delivers an accessible and practical resource written for the everyday clinical user of ultrasound. The book offers complete descriptions of the latest techniques in ultrasound, including ultrafast ultrasound and elastography, providing an up-to-date and relevant resource for educators, students, and practitioners alike. Ultrasound Technology for Clinical Practitioners uses a first-person perspective that wa...
Aim: The purpose of this study is to enhance the understanding of bladder cancer and the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in its progression. We aim to identify CAF-specific biomarkers and develop a prognostic prediction model based on CAFs, thereby contributing to the advancement of treatment strategies and the identification of prognostic and predictive biomarkers for bladder cancer. Method: We employed single-cell RNA sequencing to detect biomarkers for CAFs in bladder cancer cells. Bladder cancer cohorts were categorized into low- and high-CAF groups using the ssGSEA algorithm. The study also explored the association between CAF-related scores, immune-related cells, and immun...
The incidence of metastatic disease in the central nervous system (CNS) is rising. According to current estimates, up to a third of adult cancer patients will suffer from CNS metastasis. Clinical evidence-based data from prospective randomized trials are rare, however, because CNS metastasis patients were often excluded from clinical trial participation. The management of CNS metastasis patients is therefore rather ill-defined and an interdisciplinary challenge. Recent basic and translational science data have begun contributing to a more profound understanding of the molecular mechanisms leading to invasion of tumor cells into the CNS. This report reviews advances, challenges, and perspectives in this field.
Overviews manufacturing systems from the ground up, following the same concept as in the first edition. Delves into the fundamental building blocks of manufacturing systems: manufacturing processes and equipment. Discusses all topics from the viewpoint of four fundamental manufacturing attributes: cost, rate, flexibility and quality.
This article introduces the aims and scopes of the new journal, while also calling for talented individuals from relevant fields to join in advancing the development of this publication.
Currently, the standard treatment for pancreatic neoplasms is surgical resection. However, pancreatic surgical resection is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Patients unfit for surgery are undergoing regular cross-sectional imaging surveillance. Controversy surrounds the optimal surveillance of patients with pancreatic neoplasms, underlying the need for minimally invasive treatment modalities as an alternative to surgical treatment. To date, endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) is an emerging minimally invasive therapeutic alternative to surgical resection for various pancreatic neoplasms. We review evaluations of EUS-RFA for various pancreatic neoplasms to better understand its effectiveness and safety.
This book highlights the most efficient and latest ways to deal with cancer, focusing on IONPs. The book describes some well-designed surface modifications performed through several functional materials over the surface of IONPs, which results in the development of multifunctional IONPs-based delivery nanoplatforms by enhancing solubility, stability, and avoiding side effects on healthy cells. Several types of stimuli-responsive IONPs-based strategies are also discussed. Owing to magnetic, structural, and thermal properties, IONPs themselves can be utilized for magnetic targeting, magnetic hyperthermia, and phototherapy. Significant advancements are presented in IONPs-based immunotherapy, radiotherapy, and sonodynamic therapy for the efficient treatment of cancer. Finally, the book presents RIONs which serve as the parent platform for the development of powerful DMCAs utilized in SPECT/MRI and PET/MRI applications.

Otoacoustic Emissions: Principles, Procedures, and Protocols, Second Edition is a readable yet comprehensive source of information on otoacoustic emissions (OAEs). OAEs now play an important role in hearing screening and the clinical assessment of children and adults. The text begins with a succinct overview of OAEs and a historical description of their discovery and emergence as a clinical tool. Otoacoustic Emissions distills in 10 chapters the latest information on OAEs from basic research to clinical applications. The book is concise, but comprehensive, and covers the essentials of the subject from innovative and up-to-date perspectives. The second edition features updates across all chap...
Outdoor Adventure Education: Foundations, Theories, Models, and Research steeps students in the theories, concepts, and developments of outdoor adventure education, preparing them for careers in this burgeoning field. This text is based on author Alan W. Ewert’s pioneering book Outdoor Adventure Pursuits: Foundations, Models, and Theories. Ewert and Sibthorp, both experienced practitioners, researchers, and educators, explore the outdoor adventure field today in relation to the changes that have occurred since Ewert’s first book. The authors present a comprehensive text on outdoor and adventure foundations, theories, and research that will provide the basis for the next generation of professionals.
