Xavier Nogués
In 1990, or thereabouts, the then promoters and members of the board of trustees of the Fundació Xavier Nogués, Joan Ainaud de Lasarte, Raimon Noguera de Guzmán, Josep Pedreira and Ramon Gonzalez (now sadly de- ceased), together with the patrons August Testor, Oriol Bohigas and Jordi Curós, proposed, as a founding act, the publication of a book dedicated to the life and work of Xavier Nogués. The project was given the go ahead, and the then presi- dent, Mr Ainaud, wrote the foreword to the book. However, it was subsequently put on hold until a later date, despite everyone’s best efforts. Now we are fortunate enough to be able to revive the project and, by way of a tribute, we would like to put on record the interest the above individuals showed in the publication of the book you are now holding. We would also like to thank Joaquim Horta for the painstaking care taken with the initial project and the new patrons who have worked on the current one.

However, it is a selected, fully open, and deep fragment, outlining conceptual and practical verifications on critical views and concrete projects, concerning the actual, extensive world of architecture in the Latin American territory, and in the first years of the new century. It is a sequence of topical segments organized as an unsystematic series and through a number of different projects in each case: the single family house; searches on bigger scales; poetical structures; topics under consideration; a look over laboratories; terrain, landscape and topography; covering folk factors; and the volumetric reasoning and physical features. Historical Dictionary of the Catalans
In this reference, Buffery and Marcer cover all of the areas historically inhabited by the Catalan people. Thinking Barcelona
Thinking Barcelona studies the ideologies that redefined Barcelona during the 1980s and helped the city adapt to a new economy of tourism, culture, and services. Looking specifically at the lead-up to the 1992 Olympic Games and the urban renewal geared toward establishing Barcelona as a happy combination of European cosmopolitanism and Mediterranean rootedness, Edgar Illas situates Barcelona as a key example of contemporary urban rebranding after the fall of communism and the establishment of the neoliberal “end of history.” Looking at a host of materials associated with the games as well as contemporary architectural and literary works, he offers a compelling look at postmodern globalization as it manifests itself through urban regeneration.
