The family, of English origin, first settled in the Connecticut valley in 1636.
Henry Liles Sr. married Jean Jones, and had children between 1697 and 1711. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina and elsewhere. Other Liles families lived in Maryland, Virginia and elsewhere.
