Exploring Interconnectedness
This volume explores the socio-cultural and media background of a critical and ongoing political challenge: the complex entanglement between European integration and strong national agendas in the context of globalisation. It does so using educational media - both textbooks and digital media - as sites of cultural contestation to enquire into the intricate relationships around national and European identities and aspects of students’ knowledge and reception. Using a variety of methods and technologies, the chapters analyse identity constructions present in educational media discourses, embedded as they are in their national and European contexts and as both the catalysts and products of their time. The book is a study of the post-digital condition in an educational context, exploring the potential of digital humanities and linguistic approaches for educational media research and employing methods such as eye-tracking or concept maps.

Taking Stock – Twenty-Five Years of Comparative Literary Research
Read an interview with Norbert Bachleitner. In this 200th volume of Internationale Forschungen zur Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft the editors Norbert Bachleitner, Achim H. Hölter and John A. McCarthy ‘take stock’ of the discipline. It focuses on recurrent questions in the field of Comparative Literature: What is literature? What is meant by ‘comparative’? Or by ‘world’? What constitute ‘transgressions’ or ‘refractions’? What, ultimately, does being at home in the world imply? When we combine the answers to these individual questions, we might ultimately reach an intriguing proposition: Comparative Literature contributes to a sense of being at home in a world that is heterogeneous and fractured, rather than affirming a monolithic canon marked by territory and homogeneity. From Sin to Amazing Grace
Throughout the history of Christianity, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (“LGBT” or“queer”) people have been condemned as unrepentant sinners who are in dire need of God’s saving grace. As a result of this condemnation, LGBT people have been subjected to great spiritual, emotional and physical abuse and violence. This issue takes on a particular urgency in light of the ongoing harassment and bullying of LGBT young people by their classmates. Cheng argues that people need to be liberated from the traditional legal model of thinking about sin and grace as a violation of divine and natural laws in which grace is understood as the strength to refrain from violating such laws. Rather Cheng proposes a Christological model based upon the theologies of Irenaeus, Bonaventure and Barth, in which sin and grace are defined in terms of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. This book serves as a useful resource for all people who struggle to make sense of the traditional Christian doctrines of sin and grace in the context of the 21st century.
