Otto Böhtlingk an Rudolf Roth
Die nahezu 500 Briefe, die der Sanskritist Otto Bohtlingk (1815?1904) zwischen 1852 und 1885 an seinen Kollegen Rudolf Roth (1821?1895) in Tubingen schrieb, wurden vor einigen Jahren von G. Zeller in Roths Nachlass in der Tubinger Universitatsbibliothek aufgefunden und werden hier erstmals veroffentlicht. Hauptthema ist das sog. "Petersburger Worterbuch", das grosse, bis heute weltweit massgebliche Worterbuch Sanskrit-Deutsch, das zwischen 1855 und 1875 von Bohtlingk und Roth publiziert wurde. Es stellt das bedeutendste Gemeinschaftsprojekt der europaischen Indienforschung im 19. Jahrhundert dar.
