'My name is Patrick John Duggan and I was - am - a soldier.' So begins the story of Pat Duggan's life in the Army, and service in the Vietnam War as a Gunner in 161 Battery, Royal New Zealand Artillery. New Zealand is a nation that prides itself on its military history. We like to celebrate our soldiers, and to tell and retell the stories of their exploits. Yet our part in the Vietnam War has been largely overlooked. New Zealand's involvement in the combat phase of this controversial war was politically and emotionally charged at the time: the subject has remained fraught ever since. But contribute we did, and when eventually combat soldiers were sent, it was members of the Regular Force, pr...

The Power Within

This is an autobiography, with a difference. It tells the powerful story of a woman who overcame a tragic loss by turning to God for strength in her time of need. This seemingly insignificant step was the start of an amazing journey. First, back to my previously unrecognized, painful childhood in which there was no God. And then, forward through several encounters with God, which struck me briefly at the time, but became lost in the business of day-to-day living. And finally, to realize the wonder of an ongoing life with God at the center of all aspects of my life and relationships. I believe this story provides insight to others about the importance of recognizing and becoming oneself. As this book will testify, I spent many years, unknowingly, conforming to the image of what others expected me to be. As a result, I found myself at the age of 42, with no identity. At this time, I began the, sometimes painful process, of discovering 'self.' Thankfully, with God's help and Barbara's support I was able to emerge as the strong, independent woman, God made me to be.

Finding God in an RV

Finding God in an RV has been an amazing adventure and truly a Gift from God. I have been privileged to witness some of the wonders of God's creation as we traveled across the United States. At the same time, I have experienced events, which demonstrate God's wonderful sense of humor, bringing a whole new meaning to 'be careful what you wish for!' Our first encounter with bison, was just one example of God's humor. Both Barb and I spent much of our time outside of our comfort zone, as every day was a new experience. This taught me patience beyond my own capabilities and the necessity of one hundred percent reliance on God and His plan. I have been stunned by God's impeccable timing, in ways ...

Samuel Goldwyn was the premier dream-maker of his era - a fierce independent force i a time when studios ruled, a producer of silver screen sagas who was, in all probability, the last Hollywood tycoon. In this riveting book, Pulitzer Prize winning biographer A. Scott Berg tells the life story of this remarkable man - a tale as rich with drama as any feature length epic and as compelling as the history of Hollywood itself.

On November 27, 1937, NBC presented TV's first pilot film, Sherlock Holmes (then called an "experiment"). Thousands of pilot films (both unaired and televised) have been produced since. This updated and restyled book contains 2,470 alphabetically arranged pilot films broadcast from 1937 to 2019. Entries contain the concept, cast and character information, credits (producer, writer, director), dates, genre and network or cable affiliation. In addition to a complete performer's index, two appendices have been included: one detailing the pilot films that led to a series and a second that lists the programs that were spun off from one series into another. Never telecast pilot films can be found in the companion volume, The Encyclopedia of Unaired Television Pilots, 1945-2018. Both volumes are the most complete and detailed sources for such information, a great deal of which is based on viewing the actual programs.
