In recent years the intersections between art history and archaeology have become the focus of critical analysis by both disciplines. Contemporary sculpture has played a key role in this dialogue. Alison Turnbull, Vitis Vinifera L.
Documents Alison Turnbull's commission for One Vine Street in London, undertaken during 2008 as part of The Crown Estates redevelopment of the area. The installation "Vitis vinifera L." (the formal name for the common grapevine), comprises an elegant 8-meter wide wall painting in the entrance hall, the ingenious glazing that gives onto Swallow and Vine Streets at ground level, and the delicate lighting that runs vertically through the atrium. This book includes an essay by Paul Bonaventura which places the work in the wider context of the artists research and studio practice.
