KUHP Lama sudah berlaku di Indonesia selama 78 tahun. Oleh karena itu, pem- bentuk undang-undang telah merancang, menetapkan, dan mengesahkan UU RI No. 1 Tahun 2023 tentang Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana (KUHP Baru). KUHP ini ditetapkan oleh Pemerintah Indonesia dengan persetujuan DPR RI, pada 2 Januari 2023. Undang-undang ini mulai berlaku setelah 3 (tiga) tahun terhitung sejak tanggal diundangkan. Buku ini membahas gambaran sekilas KUHP Lama dan KUHP Baru terkait produk, sejarah, dan tujuh substansi pokoknya; konsep dasar hukum pidana; trias hukum pidana (definisi, jenis,0 dan lain-lain); substansi penting lain dalam hukum pidana dan materi lanjutannya (pemufakatan jahat, persiapan, percobaan, sampai dengan gugurnya penuntutan dan pelaksanaan pidana). Pembahasannya disesuaikan dengan sistematika KUHP Baru khususnya Buku Kesatu tentang Aturan Umum. Selain itu, dilengkapi Landasan Filosofis dan Yuridis yang berguna bagi pembaca berkaitan pandangan dan ide pemikiran pembentukannya serta rujukan pasal pada KUHP Baru.
