La prima sezione consta di sei contributi che delineano vari aspetti degli insediamenti urbani (natura della città, politica e fiscalità, tecniche edilizie e organizzazione degli spazi abitativi) nel periodo preso in esame; la seconda parte comprende invece quindici saggi su specifici insediamenti.
