Domestic Devotions in Medieval and Early Modern Europe
Domestic devotion has become an increasingly important area of research in recent years, with the publication of a number of significant studies on the early modern period in particular. This Special Issue aims to build on these works and to expand their range, both geographically and chronologically. This collection focuses on lived religion and the devotional practices found in the domestic settings of late medieval and early modern Europe. More particularly, it investigates the degree to which the experience of personal or familial religious practice in the domestic realm intersected with the more public expression of faith in liturgical or communal settings. Its broad geographical range (spanning northern, southern, central and eastern Europe) includes practices related to Christianity, Judaism and Islam. This Special Issue will be of interest to historians, art historians, medievalists, early modernists, historians of religion, anthropologists and theologians, as well as those interested in the history of material religious culture. It also offers important insights into research areas such as gender studies, histories of the emotions and histories of the senses.

Carmel in Medieval Catalonia
This volume traces the development of Carmelite foundations in Medieval Catalonia and shows how they reflected the dichotomy between the Order's eremitical origins and the active mendicant apostolate in which it was engaged. In discussing Carmelite life in an urban setting, mention is made of secular involvement with its positive and negative effects, popular piety and miraculous sightings and outstanding intellectual achievement. The conclusion raises the question that Carmelite friars might have migrated to Europe at an earlier date than traditionally suggested; similarly, that the inaccurate foundation document for Peralada dated 1206 was a fourteenth-century falsification. The appendices provide supplementary material: archival documents, names of priors, royal chaplains, students and graduates and finally an alphabetical list of known medieval Catalan Carmelites. A bibliography and index complete the volume.

This edited volume explores the development of the European book world between 1650 and 1750, concentrating on changes in publishing strategies, practices of censorship, the circulation of second-hand books and the building of libraries. Its essays discuss this critical, but much neglected period of print history through case studies from Spain, Italy, France, the Holy Roman Empire, Britain and the Netherlands. Ranging from the posthumous publication of Galileo to the regulation of the book auction market, this volume demonstrates that the century between 1650 and 1750 was a transformative period for the history of the printed book.

La nit del 6 d'octubre a Barcelona
Els periodistes Joan Costa i Deu i Modest Sabaté van escriure, en un any de diferència, els dos llibres que ara es reediten conjuntament. El primer, La nit del 6 d'Octubre a Barcelona, va aparèixer a Barcelona l'abril del 1935, i el segon, La veritat del 6 d'Octubre, es va publicar molt poc temps abans de les eleccions del febrer del 1936, que, amb la victòria de les esquerres, havien de portar l'amnistia i el restabliment del govern de Lluís Companys. El reportatge de Joan Costa i Deu i Modest Sabaté sobre el 6 d'Octubre a Barcelona és probablement el més detallat dels que es van publicar en aquell moment. No precisa l'armament de què disposava el govern de la Generalitat, es limita a dir que era abundant, i la conclusió del llibre és que, fora de la resistència des del local del CADCI , no hi va haver gairebé resistència armada contra l'exèrcit. Dels llibres que es publicaren a Catalunya sobre el 6 d'Octubre el 1935, i abans de les eleccions que va guanyar el Front d'Esquerres el febrer de 1936, els dos de Costa i Deu i Sabaté són dels pocs, si no els únics, que no tracten de justificar les esquerres.
