This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Formal Concept Analysis, ICFCA 2009, held in Darmstadt, Germany, in May 2009. The 15 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 29 submissions for inclusion in the book. The papers comprise state of the art research and present new results in Formal Concept Analysis and related fields. These results range from theoretical novelties to advances in FCA-related algorithmic issues, as well as application domains of FCA such as data visualization, information retrieval, machine learning, data analysis and knowledge management.
Archaeologist Annja Creed believes there's more to the apparitions of Santo Niño—the Holy Child—luring thousands of pilgrims to Santa Fe. Other sightings of strange and anomalous creatures in the area indicate a mystery more profane than sacred—with links, perhaps, to Annja's own fate. But she is not alone in her quest to separate reliquaries from unholy minds who dare to harness sinister power. A dangerous yet enigmatic Jesuit, sworn to protect the Vatican at any cost, a brilliant young artist whose genius portrays a truth too potent for words and a famed monster hunter with a terrifying agenda are the keys to the secrets that lie in the heart of Los Alamos—and unlocking the door to the very fabric of time itself….
Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) is a mathematical theory of concepts and c- ceptualhierarchyleadingtomethodsforconceptuallyanalyzingdataandkno- edge. The theoryitselfstronglyreliesonorderandlatticetheory, whichhasbeen studied by mathematicians over decades. FCA proved itself highly relevant in several applications from the beginning, and, over the last years, the range of applicationshaskeptgrowing. The mainreasonfor this comesfromthe fact that our modern society has turned into an “information” society. After years and years of using computers, companies realized they had stored gigantic amounts of data. Then, they realized that this data, just rough information for them, might become a re...
It started with a festival - three classic operas performed in a theatre in Toronto. But when it became apparent that there was a need for a national opera company, an organization was founded that would go on to become one of the largest performing arts organizations in the country. The Canadian Opera Company was born in 1950, and is now one of the major opera companies in North America. The Company has toured extensively throughout Canada and the United States, and has delighted audiences as far away as Australia and Hong Kong, all the while finding the time to record frequently and develop special operatic presentations for children. More than just a group of performers, the COC also prov...
The most comprehensive book about the electric guitar. Its A-to-Z format covers more than 120 makers from around the world and details their successes and failures through 1,200 unique color, studio quality photographs.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Conceptual Structures, ICCS'98, held in Montpellier, France, in August 1998. The 20 revised full papers and 10 research reports presented were carefully selected from a total of 66 submissions; also included are three invited contributions. The volume is divided in topical sections on knowledge representation and knowledge engineering, tools, conceptual graphs and other models, relationships with logics, algorithms and complexity, natural language processing, and applications.
Fingerstyle virtuoso Peppino D'Agostino examines topics such as solo guitar arranging, composition, alternate tunings, chord voicings, and fingerstyle techniques. New Acoustic Guitar contains 11 original Peppino works. Titles include: Grand Canyon * Calypso Facto * Acoustic Spirit * Walk Away Renee * Bella Donna.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Formal Concept Analysis, ICFCA 2019, held in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, in June 2019. The 15 full papers and 5 short papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 36 submissions. The book also contains four invited contributions in full paper length. The field of Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) originated in the 1980s in Darmstadt as a subfield of mathematical order theory, with prior developments in other research groups. Its original motivation was to consider complete lattices as lattices of concepts, drawing motivation from philosophy and mathematics alike. FCA has since then developed into a wide research area with applications much beyond its original motivation, for example in logic, data mining, learning, and psychology.
Provides an up-to-date analysis of big data and multi-agent systems The term Big Data refers to the cases, where data sets are too large or too complex for traditional data-processing software. With the spread of new concepts such as Edge Computing or the Internet of Things, production, processing and consumption of this data becomes more and more distributed. As a result, applications increasingly require multiple agents that can work together. A multi-agent system (MAS) is a self-organized computer system that comprises multiple intelligent agents interacting to solve problems that are beyond the capacities of individual agents. Modern Big Data Architectures examines modern concepts and ar...
This book documents the satellite events run around the 14th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming, ECOOP 2000 in Cannes and Sophia Antipolis in June 2000. The book presents 18 high-quality value-adding workshop reports, one panel transcription, and 15 posters. All in all, the book offers a comprehensive and thought-provoking snapshot of the current research in object-orientation. The wealth of information provided spans the whole range of object technology, ranging from theoretical and foundational issues to applications in various domains.
