This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 40th International Conference on Conceptual Modeling, ER 2021, which will be held as virtual event, in October 2021. The 14 full and 18 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 85 submissions. The conference presents topics on conceptual modeling, its foundations and applications. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the overall theme of ER 2021 is: Conceptual Modeling in an Age of Uncertainty.

Cancer in Portugal provides estimates for national cancer incidence in 1996-1998 and predicts numbers of cancer cases in year 2000 based, in whole or in part, on Portuguese incidence and mortality data and population projections for year 2000. The aim of the report is to assess the quality (completeness and validity) of the data of the Portuguese Registries, and to interpret cancer mortality trends in the period 1988-1998 in the light of the most recent epidemiological research and risk factor patterns.

Models in Software Engineering
This book presents a comprehensive documentation of the scientific outcome of 14 satellite events held at the 13th International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering, Languages and Systems, MODELS 2010, held in Oslo, Norway, in October 2010. Besides the 21 revised best papers selected from 12 topically focused workshops, the post-proceedings also covers the doctoral symposium and the educators symposium; each of the 14 satellite events covered is introduced by a summary of the respective organizers. Aspect-Oriented, Model-Driven Software Product Lines
Software product lines provide a systematic means of managing variability in a suite of products. They have many benefits but there are three major barriers that can prevent them from reaching their full potential. First, there is the challenge of scale: a large number of variants may exist in a product line context and the number of interrelationships and dependencies can rise exponentially. Second, variations tend to be systemic by nature in that they affect the whole architecture of the software product line. Third, software product lines often serve different business contexts, each with its own intricacies and complexities. The AMPLE (http://www.ample-project.net/) approach tackles these three challenges by combining advances in aspect-oriented software development and model-driven engineering. The full suite of methods and tools that constitute this approach are discussed in detail in this edited volume and illustrated using three real-world industrial case studies.
