A strongly felt criticism of the Parti Quebecois proposal for sovereignty association. "A genuine humanist and idealist who tries to awaken the people to a better life."--"Globe and Mail"

A broad critique of the negative role that religion has played in influencing human culture historically along with an updated look at its conflict with the atheist ethos. This goes hand in hand with a personal reflection on why the author became a non-believer.
Through these two books I want to show you as much as possible the completely blueprint where I've worked on for years. It's my library, a collection from which I work, and the many documents that I now use as evidence. This book is a collection of quotations from many books, magazines, newspapers, internet documents and reports from others. Therefore I see this book as a manual / reference book for those interested. It's important to me that finally there is a book where everything that is concealed for us for centuries, is at a glance. What you do with the information and how much it is worth to you to know these things is up to you. Here I simply put those pieces that in my eyes came closest to the truth, and which fitted together like a puzzle. The past has big secrets which still are carefully concealed in the present. By putting the many citations and articles at a glance we see a strong message: Wake up people.
A synthesis of Quebec history from New France to the first referendum on sovereignty in 1980.
A biography of one of the most charismatic politicians that Quebec - and Canada - has ever known. Graham Fraser paints a vivid portrait of one of the most dynamic political figures of the 20th century, Rene Levesque, describes the origins of the Parti Quebecois and gives a graphic account of key events that still resonate in Canadian political life: Quebec's language law, the 1980 referendum and the patriation of the constitution. This second edition contains a new preface in which Fraser completes the story of the last months of the Parti Quebecois government and the period leading up to Levesque's death in 1987, detailing how Levesque's leadership continues to mark his successors.
Philip Resnick's controversial letters, written as a stirring response to Quebec's stand in the 1988 federal election, will not only galvanize the ongoing discussions on Meech Lake and Free Trade but will bring to the fore the question of Quebec's future relationship to the rest of Canada. Daniel Latouche's reply - often witty but never light-hearted - brings his strong Québécois nationalist views to bear on the questions raised by Resnick and will certainly add fuel to the fire.
