The Bicyclist's Guide to the Galaxy

The power of the pedal and the page shine through in these ten joyfully feminist science fiction and fantasy stories. Two strangers and their bike fall through a plot hole and into a fantasy novel, an author attempts to chronicle the solar cycling trend, a sixth grader's beloved novel is stolen by a horde of bicycling fae, an interstellar book preservationist takes a bike to fit in and gets a wilder ride than she bargained for, and more adventures are set in imagined realities not so different from our own futures, pasts, and present-day lives. Take these stories for a spin and enjoy an escape from the perils of everyday sexism and fossil fuel dependence. Includes stories by Kathleen Jowitt, Christopher R. Muscato, Shelby Schwieterman, Cara Brezina, Jamie Perrault, Avery Vanderlyle, Lisa Timpf, Taru Luojola, Rose Strickman, and Elly Blue.

Gilded Glass

An anthology of twenty-four fantasy stories exploring the theme of mirrors in fairy tales and myths. A mirror is far more than meets the eye. An urban legend who will become an unlikely ally? An alien gladiator with reflective armor? A monster to the rescue? A goddess? A distorted version of yourself? Fairy-tales, myths and fables spark the imagination. They give us hints of insight, windows and snapshots of greater stories. On the surface, however, these tales are simply entertaining. But what if that's not enough? After Lines takes the classically told fairy-tale, myth, legend, or fable, and brings its hidden complexity to the surface - Stephanie Buosi (Editor-in-chief Erebus Press)

While on vacation in the town of San Soros, Alexander hears the legend of the island just offshore. Hundreds of years ago, the townsmen killed almost all the women as witches, but the women still remain, the angry and vengeful undead. They destroyed the island monastery in revenge, and for a man to go to the island is death. Every year, the villagers appease the ghost women with gifts of flowers and beads ... but every hundred years, the legend goes, a man must be sacrificed. Alexander doesn't believe a word of it. When village woman Lucia and fellow tourist Nettie ask him to accompany them to the island, he agrees. There Lucia drugs him, and both she and Nettie leave Alexander alone on the island, rowing back to shore. Alexander takes refuge in the ancient church, intending to try to get back to the mainland tomorrow. Unfortunately, the legend is real. The undead mermaids return and take their due. The tithe is paid for the next hundred years.

Afromyth Volume 2

Afrocentric Books presents the second installment in the Afromyth Fantasy Series. This anthology contains fourteen fantasy stories featuring characters of the African diaspora, stories that will take you from the American antebellum South, where an African god searches for his voice, to the far-flung future, where a caravan of ships makes harbor in a Saharan sea. Follow a young boy who, with the help of ancestral magic, learns what it truly means to be a warrior. Take a spirit journey as a young girl learns to be a goddess. Afromyth Volume 2 is an eclectic collection of tales whose fantasy themes run the gamut from romance to horror, including a story of a woman whose sanity is tested by her family's demons. Within these pages, a healer unlocks an ancient power, a woman rides the gods, and a god rides a bike. Explore new worlds through the eyes of characters of indigenous African descent.
